We recently went in for an ultrasound at 15 weeks and the tech said the baby was measuring at 4 ounces. She didn't say if that was good or bad or anything but everything I've read says at 15 weeks babies normally weigh only about 2.5 ounces. That seems like a huge difference to me and I'm wondering if he's going to turn out to be giant. Big babies do not run in my family and I have only gained about 6 pounds so I'm a little curious as to why he would be so much bigger than average. I hope it just means he is healthy and he will end up at a healthy weight a birth. Any thoughts?

hi hun i wouldnt worry about it - they only estimate the weight on these scans and have been know to be widely out.

quick calculation 4oz is 113.4grams

my 15+2 week scan says my baby weight estimate is 115.0 grams :) so im roughly the same as you and have been told to expect a small baby (due to pregnancy complications that effect growth later on in pregnancy)

4oz sounds about right. Mine were 3 and 3.5 at 14 weeks and 5 and 6 at 16 weeks and was told that was a normal weight. She was pleased. It's better if they're a bit bigger anyway. They were measuring big at 14 weeks, but told me they'd fall into normal as the range widened.

I don't think 4 oz is big! It's very much normal. Even if it was way more, it doesn't necessarily mean your baby would be super big at birth. They go through growth spurts in there, and slow down at times. So don't worry, it sounds absolutely normal
