Hi

Anyone got any thoughts or had any experience of taking baby asprin? Have read it can help implantation after recurrent m/c. Have (thankfully, everything crossed and touching wood) never had a m/c but wondered if it would be worth taking in run up to ivf?

Thanks

Kath xx

Hi Kath

I had to take it with my IVF cycle, standard with my clinic. I did manage to fall pregnant for 6 weeks until the scan i had a missed miscarriage. Good luck

Mrs G - I asked my clinic last week re: asprin and they said that if I want to take it thats fine, as it'll not do any harm. So I am...

Update on this. Asked my acupunturist yesterday and she said she recommended taking it up to ET then stopping as there is a small amount of very new reseach which suggests increased mc rates if taken after.

xx

Yup, I'd heard that also. Although had forgot, so thanks for reminding me

Can u guys tell me why it increases chances of mc if taken after ET?

Idea of aspirin is it makes your blood thinner. So the theory is that it make implantation easier. I did not take baby aspirin with mine IVF. I was scared to touch anything. Check with your dr.

Not sure, acupunurist said the research she has seen was very new and a small study but there was a POSS link with m/c if taken after et. akcher is right, it thins your blood slightly but I'm not sure what effect this would have on an embryo?

It was protocol for me to take it after egg collection and all the way through the first trimester. It's my understanding that a common cause of miscarriage is placental clotting and so taking aspirin can eliminate this by thinning the blood. I only took 81 mg a day.

could it help without ivf? Just wondering if i could pop a couple of pills here and there (and i hate pills....).are u supposed to take it b4 or after O or both?

I'm taking 75. Am gonna check with the hospital when I go next week.

Brumbar i think u can, ask ladies who have had recurrent miscarriages are encouraged to take it and they ttc naturally. I was advised to take after egg collection, but this thread says otherwise????

It was only something my acupunturist said about some very new research that thought there was a minimal risk if taken after embryo transfer. If consultant says take it, then I would.

I am planning on taking baby asprin this cycle. It isn't part of our proctocal but our last baby died and I wonder if I may have a clotting problem (the karyotype on the baby showed it was normal so rules out chromosomal causes for the m/c). I don't think I could take having another m/c and then finding out that a little pill could have easily prevented it. Also all the info I read shows that taking it if you don't have a clotting issue doesn't cause a problem.

I too am on baby aspirin right now, 81mg as vineyard said. It's part of my IVF protocol. I started taking it after EC and I'm in first tri now and not sure when they'll tell me to stop.

Mendy i was told to take till end of 1st tri...

I suspect it doesn't affect the embryo, but rather the uterine lining. Since it thins the blood, maybe it makes it harder for your bean to stick.

:hi: ladies!

I did some google research and found this:

Hope it's informative!
