Hi all,
Before I give you a short birth story, I would just like to say a big thank you to you all for your help over the last 8 months!
My beautiful son was born 2 days early, this morning 27th May at 9.59am. Let me start off by saying, I accepted a long time ago that I was a wimp and would not be able to go through labour without all drugs possible! Little did I know that things first time along could actually progress quickly!
It began at 1am when I was woken by period pain cramps which were peaking. I went to the toilet and found my show, so guessed the cramps could be contractions. I managed through them quite well and then my waters started trickling from 1.30am and my contractions were about every 5 minutes but not regular or for too long so I called the hospital. I went in to be checked and the midwife confirmed that my waters had gone but my cervix was high and not even a cm dilated so I was sent home for my contractions to progress.
I got home for around 3am and was managing but it got to 6.30am and I was really struggling...they hurt like hell and were roughly every 4 minutes and lasting over a minute! I knew it was time for some pain relief. I got to the hospital and thought I was going to pass out, expecting to be about 2cm if that and was examined at 8cm, a further contraction during the examination was pushing me to 9cm and my first comment was...oh no! I can't have an epidural!!
Midwife convinced me to just got for gas and air for the last bit which also surprised the midwife as i was pushing as soon as I got into delivery and had him within the hour!
I won't lie, it hurts and I could not have done it if my other half wasn't as fantastic as he was!
My son is perfect! He weighed in at 6lb 8oz and has been an amazing baby already, no crying except for when he was born!
We are now alone in the hospital, dad has had to go home and I can't stop watching him, checking he is ok!
Totally in love x
