Hi girls!

this past week has been hell...my daughter was born last sunday when she was due at the end of august...
she is currently in the NICU of a very good hospital here in Montreal, QC.
Needless to say: i am overwhelmed, all over the place, i just cry all the time, i feel extremely guilty of not being able to carry her to term..
I just dont know..and I do need support because I am a mess.
Any of you went thru having a preemie..any stories? Thank you

I'm sorry iv no words of advice, sounds like your dd is being well looked after and you must have done a good job to make her as healthy as poss.
My friend had her first at 28 weeks and her third at 24 and both are very happy thriving kids now x

My colleague had a baby at 26 weeks. It was a really difficult time for them. The baby was released from hospital on his official due date. He's now 4 years old and ahead of his peers (both physically and intellectually). He's starting school in September.
I know it must be an awful time for you right now, but try to stay strong for your baby. And you mustn't ever blame yourself for what happened. Big hugs for you and your baby!

Hi

If you come over the to premature and Nicu babies forum you will meet lots of prem parents. Everything you are feeling is totally normal. Not only have you had to experience a very scary time delivering early your hormones will be high as well.

There is then & now pictures on it and people's stories so you will know you are not alone xx

yes come on over to the preemie section! Lots of great ladies, practical advice, heartwarming happy endings. My was was born at 27 weeks in Montreal as well - he`s 3 now, happy and thriving. :hugs:

My son was born at 28wks and he is now a very lively and noisy 4yr old, looking at him now you wouldn't know he was 12wks early. He spent 7wks in NICU in all.
Try to remain positive, they are much tougher than they look.
Talk to the staff in NICU about how you are feeling, they are there to support you too. Our NICU offered a counselling service, which we used and helped us come to terms with having an early baby and the emotional roller coaster ride it is. Hang on in there and keep smiling xx
