My baby as been on Aptimil comfort for 2 weeks now and as been fine! But the past couple of days he has been struggling to pooh! U can see his face go bright red and he's pushing so hard u can see it in his bum and feel it there! But it's not coming! It's so upsetting to see however he doesn't seem bothered yet! I'm goin to take him doctors! Does anybody have any advice or know what the doctor will do for him! He's only 5 weeks old! Xxxxx

my baby had the same issue when he was also 5 weeks old!
we used nutricia/nutrilon formula (i combi fed him with bf due to low milk supply), not sure if it is same brand. we switched to a generic brand and he never had the same issue again.
anyway, the only thing that worked on him was lactulose (which is perfectly safe for babies). he pooped the next morning!
i heard people using natural soap suppositories, but we didnt try it.

( the doc here wouldnt even see him for this..)

good luck!

My little one has been suffering too, she's 8 weeks old. I've been giving her sips of cooled boiled water between feeds and this has certainly helped. My health visitor recommended applying Vaseline around her rectum and she said people swear by this method??? I've tried it, but not sure it helps much??

I think lots of FF babies this happens too as they have to get used to using their bowels. I used to give little bits of boiled water with a tinybit of brown sugar in, but hes only taken an intrest in water now at 3mo.. so if that doesnt work, i used to smother a cotton stick bud / q tip if your from US in vaseline and just gently enter it into his bottom and turn it round. he would poo straight after if he was constipated, worth a try? and do cycling legs for a minute every time you change him just to ease it up a bit xx oh and tummy massages, right under his belly button, that will help relieve trapped gas and enable him to poo
