Hi all,

So I'm 29 weeks pregnant with a little girl and we're really struggling for names.
Our last name begins in W, is Swiss and is fairly unusual so its quite hard to find names that fit.

The only name we both liked was: Emily
But a close family member called their daughter that a few days ago which means its completely out :( We also had reservations about the popularity of the name.

My favourite after that is Melody but he can't stand it.
His favourite is Poppy but again it reminds me of someone I work with!

Any suggestions would be grately appreciated as it seems that she won't have a name when she's born at the moment!

Elise .
Olivia
Holly
Harmony
Ella
Emmie
Lottie
Louisa
India.
Ivy
Grace

Melissa/ Melanie as variants of melody?

All of your names end with the -y sound, so going along with that...

Ivy
Ruby
Daisy
Lily
Lucy
Abby
Effie
Elsie
Sophie
Edie
Elodie

Some others that I think fit with the style of your other names:

Etta
Eloise
Anna
Violet
Aria
Imogen

Se thought we were having a boy until the birth - was a big surprise! Soa she remained nameless for a month or so until we picked. Its not that uncommon .. Perhaps seeing her will inspire you

How about Elodie? It's a beautiful cross between your 2 favorite names: Emily & Melody!

Elodie - French, means "certain of wealth"

If your OH doesn't love it, he could always call her Ella, Ellie, or Dee (Dee-Dee) as nicknames!

Addt'l suggestions:

Elora <-- Greek, means "light"
Emersyn
Alaina
Penelope (he could call her Poppy as a nickname?)
Pippa/Philippa
Emma/Emmalyn
Amelia/Emilia
Aaliyah
Eliana

I was going to suggest Elodie too! X

How about Emma, Emmie, Amelie or Amelia? All similar to Emily :flower:

Elodie is another good one too! Or Eloise :

If he likes Poppy, maybe Phoebe or Penelope?

I do like Eloise out of all of those.

I don't even know how to pronounce Elodie so think its a bit out there for our tastes!

He likes Pippa. Oh now we've added more names to the list and are no closer because we like different ones!

Thanks for all the suggestions!

If the surname if Swiss, I'd lean towards picking an italian or french name. It was make her much more unusual plus a lot of italian and french names have been heard before without being too common.

We have a Maddison Grace, Esmae Sophia Rose and this little one will be called Matilda-Belle

xx
