hi,

I had my 20 week scan on Friday and all was fine except it took the sonographer ages to measure his head as it was so low down, I had to drink cold water and walk around before she could finally measure it. She didn't seem or say this was a problem but now I'm feeling worried about it! And I've never heard of this happening to anyone I know.

I'm not in pain but now I feel pressure down there and am thinking I'm going to go into pre-term labour! Has anyone else experienced this and was everything ok?

I think you will be fine :)

With my first his head was really low down for ages and was fully engaged early (around 34 weeks). The MW told me he was in the perfect place and that I definitely wouldn't be late...

He was exactly two weeks late and after days of contractions and slow labour ended up with an emcs. So didnt mean a thing for me!

If you are worried speak to your MW. I am sure if they were concerned they would have told you.

:)

Thanks for your reply Candyem its really reassuring. Was your little one’s head down at the 20 week scan?

I spoke to a midwife earlier who wasn’t much help as to whether I should be worried or not, she just said I can come in for another scan if I want, which I may well do even though I feel a bit silly considering I’ve only just had the scan but I feel like I can’t relax at the moment!

Mine was the same at my 20 week scan, I had to go back for another one!! All ok tho, make sure you aren't dehydrated or constipated as that might explain pressure

Thanks Maxi, had your baby moved up at your second scan?

My LO was, I wasn't and am not worried as midwife and doctor weren't x

At 20 weeks they still have plenty of time to move in and out and flip around.

His head was slightly down at 20 week scan. It must have just been where he was comfortable.

Don't worry about it! He could still move around, and even if he doesn't, it doesn't mean that he'll come early! My friends little boy was fully engaged for about a month and he still came 9 days late! It's just where they become comfortable, don't panic!

Thanks girls its reassuring to know I'm not the only one. I'm hoping it just means he's comfortable down there and not that he wants to escape ha x

At 19+2 & 20+5 my lg's head was right down. She was very active and obviously very comfy down there. My sonographer had to tip me upside down to get gravity to shift her but as soon as I was flat again she wiggled right back down.

Lol CVR - the sonographer also tried tilting the bed practically vertical for me but even that didn't work for this one! My lo seems quite active too so am just hoping everything is fine x

I was told my baby's head was down at my 20 week scan on Monday, I didn't think it was anything to worry about and the sonographer wasn't worried. Might explain the pressure I'm feeling though!!

Hi HB,

My sonagrapher was totalling fine about it also, its just me being stupidly worried! Interesting to hear you have pressure, can you explain what it feels like? Mine is mainly when I'm sitting at my desk at work and when I need a pee (which seems like all the time lol) its nothing very bad though.

Does anyone else feel like their bump is really low?

I actually had to hold on pretty tight to avoid sliding off the end.

My LO head was super low when I went to my scan at 19+1 , there was no concern, the baby has a lot of room to do 180 degree turns. We had to come back 2weeks later and this time he was breech (uncomfortable with his knees in my pelvis!) and he was actually turning, he went from head down, to breech, back to head down
Edit: sometimes I feel pressure similar to the pressure I get while on my menstrual. And of course if he decides to roll onto my bladder, the pressure is unbearable

Yes the pressure I sometimes feel is like when I'm on my menstrual as well!! Also I'm not sure if its related to the baby being so low but lately I've been feel a kind of ache/pressure in my lady region, feels high up but I'm not sure (sorry tmi!) I'm wondering if this could be the baby pushing on the cervix?

Meant to say - yes the bladder is unbearable! I literally go to the loo every 10 minutes and if I hold it it hurts!! x

When i went for my sonogram, I told my sonographer about the pressure and during the sonogram she saw that it was the baby causing the pressure. I found my self walking and holding my vajayjay (tmi) because of the pressure! Sometimes I get the achey feeling too, and a sharp pain through my vagina which I also think is my baby hitting my cervix, it kind of scares me but my midwife said its normal, I've been experiencing it since about week 16 with no complications.

Haha this might be TMI, but I sometimes feel like my whole internal organs including baby are about to come flying out!! Almost as if they are too heavy, and I think this is causing the pressure. I do feel like I need to pee constantly with it, and generally as if I should keep my legs crossed in case baby comes flying out :dohh:

Silly I know, but pregnancy does weird things!!
