Baby Heartbeat

Hi Girls,

I was just wondering, how do you know what the babies heartbeat was at the 12 week scan? The scan lady didn't tell me, so was just wondering if it would be in my notes or on the scan pic?

I can't find it, got the first trimester screening report and all it says is "alive fetus- fetal heart activity present" doesn't say anything about bpm or anything :/ x

I'm wondering this also. I've never heard the heart beat at my ultrasound but in my doctors office (don't have a midwife). My doctor is my family doctor and is who I go to for my prenatal appointments and who listens to the heart beat. I've never once been told the bpm and I don't get any paper work on anything from any appointments.

Hmm, it's silly, most people seem to know what their baby's heartbeat is, maybe some hospitals/doctors don't do it :/ x

I wasn't told my baby's heartbeat until I heard it on a doppler at 20 weeks I always wondered this as well as everyone seemed to know theirs. I had 3 scans before I heard it on the doppler but I should have asked really. Next time make sure you ask them as some don't tell you x

Maybe they don't measure it until later? I don't have my notes any more but I actually don't recall seeing a rate noted down at 12 weeks either, first I knew of it was at 15 weeks when I first heard it.. x

Ahh okay I got my appointment with the midwife just over 3 weeks away so i'll ask her then think she is measuring hb on a doppler x

I've never been told what it is.. I heard it for a second at my 12 week scan but nothing was put other than it was functioning well or something. Then at my 18week midwife appointment we listened to it again but she didnt tell me it she just said it was fine and also didn't put in my notes what it was :S x

I was never told at my 12 week scan, we didn't here it just saw it on the screen and they were okay with the fact it was present and just wrote that down. It wasn't until my 16 weeks midwife appointment they started listening to it and recording the rate
