My LO is 18 weeks nearly, he is teething (classic signs of chomping hands CONSTANTLY, dribbling alot, chewing on everything)

for the last two days he has been drinking about 3oz of a 7oz bottle and then screaming and fighting the rest of it, he really really wants it but he's too busy crying in pain.

for the last 2 days he's only had between 10 - 16 ozs of milk and his tea (1/2 jar baby food, 1/2 jar baby pudding).

The only thing i can think of doing is increasing his food intake, but changing it to baby porridge only and mix the rest of the formula in with it so that he is getting what he needs...

what would you do?? im really worried and struggling :(

It means him eating baby porridge 4 times a day to ensure he's getting his 28ozs... or should i only do it three times a day so he gets about 25ozs? or even twice a day so he only gets 21ozs??

HELP!! X

hi, we are having exactly the same problem, but its been going on since last thursday. the only way i can get her to take a feed is to rub anbesol on her gums 10 minutes before a feed and then she usually takes it. i rang nhs direct today to check this was ok and they said yes. before her last feed i also give her calpol 1/2 hour b4 feed so this helps her take the whole bottle rather then just a few oz in the day. doctor said ok to do, but if still doing in another week get her checked over. i have also given her a yogurt each day to help with milk intake xx

I would agree with PP I give calpol or nurofen an hour before food or bottle to help LO feel more comfortable. Then I apply bonjela to help numb his gums. I find he likes his bottle warmer when he's got sore gums. I would have thought getting milk into your LO would be better than food but if your LOs only wanting porridge then at least it's getting some milk into your LO. Hope your LO feel a better soon :)

i mix the rest of his formula that he leaves with the porridge instead of giving him his dinner at 5pm. that way at least i know he's getting all of the nutrients and vitamins he needs!
