im hoping to breast feed, and am going to give it a bloody good go but wondered if it was worth gettin some formula 'just in case'? if so what should i get?

ive never brought baby milk or disposable nappys so im confused:muaha:

HI babe.I always Mummy feed but also buy some milk in case of emergencies. As I have tried and tested milk with the other 3 I have stuck to the same brand (Cow & Gate) SMA was useless all 3 threw up on it.When I was preggers I bought a couple of cartons ready made up and if I couldn't boob feed I had enough in cupboard till I managed to get to the shop. Its a god send as if baby yelling you haven't got to fuss with making feed when you find you already stressed after baby refusing boob.

As for nappies again I have tried and tested a few brands but now I stick to Huggies or if I'm short of money then Sainsburys own are very good.

You'll have to decide for yourself in the long run as each baby have own need.Get a small supply in of milk and nappies try them out and go from there.Good luck xxxxxxxxx

I am going to try my hardest this time to Breastfeed, but I will get formula in just in case it doesn't work out, me personally would. I am either going to get Aptamil or Cow and Gate, not sure though. And will only get one large tin. :) x

As for disposable nappies, I only ever use Pampers. :)

Good luck with the BF! x

i dont plan on using disposables at all i have a stack of terrys all washed and ready just need the baby to make its mind up and come!!

i thought about getting cartons instead of a tin of milk that im determined not to use good/bad idea??

Get the concentrated milk. Its the easiest and best i've found.

i was going to breast feed but couldnt so i use Aptamil as it closet to breast milk, and really mild on her tummy :)

After a lot of advice from mummies on here, I bought some Aptimel ready made milk in cartons. I just bought 4, just in case LO didn't like it. I was also determined to breast feed, but wanted a back up plan. I haven't needed to use it, but it;s there if I do.
As for nappies (I know you're using terry towling, but just in case), we use Tesco own. we bought a bumper pack of Boots own the other day and they are crap!!! As with everything though, you don't know what your baby is going to like, so just buy a few of things and you can stock pile when you know what they're happy with.
Good luck and some labour :dust: for you!!!

Tbh, I never bought any formula, the thought never even crossed my mind. If something did go wrong, the supermarkets are all 24hrs now.

Aptimal (sp?) every time!! My friends a midwife, and she says it's the closest to breastmilk. I also bought ready made cartons, just for emergencies.
I'm with you Kat on the nappies Tesco's are fab, and only £1.64 a pack. I love a bargain.
Let us know how you get on with the terries UV. I really fancied trying them, but i didn't want to set myself too much on, with Seth now been the youngest of 4.

I would get a few cartons in, i would also maybe's buy a little pack of disposable nappies to get you through the first few days, it is tiring and i don't think you'll want to do much cleaning. Once you're into the swing of things tho! Either that, or get the bounty woman to give you loads free!!

i wanted to bf only lasted 4 days lol n i was given aptimol by jazzy few weeks b4 i had him so i used that! n was given a cold water steriliser.

i used size 2 nappies from day 1 n he still fits in them cuz they r 6-13lbs i love huggoes and tescos own:)

we are big fans of aptimal. i desperately wanted to bf but couldn't and have never had problems with aptimal.

i no you're using terry's but if you do need disposables - we use pampers and asda angels are excellent too x

I agree that disposables for the first couple of days are great, it just makes it all a bit easier - unless OH is willing to put the washing on lol

i have half a pack of pampas first size that someone gave me do you think theyll be ok

Yeh, that'd be fine. It gives you a chance to meet your baby and get used to the whole being parents thing without too much stress lol.

I had SMA gold as a back up and used it when I had mastitus. Seemed fine but Leo was just pleased to have some milk that wasnt sour! Not sure about other brands. As for nappies I am using terry towling nappies traditional ones but use the nature care biodregadable ones at night and if going out for a while. Theyre great! No chemicals or bleach and so far no nappy rash!

I never bought any either. I had trouble bfing for the first week so we just cup fed and syringe fed Savannah. Never crossed my mind to get formula, figured as long as I could syring feed her it'd get me through until supermarket opened if I really needed formula
