Ok so I am a little bit freaked out here. My baby seems to have slowed a little down in movements. I mean I wouldn't say she is super active anyway. I ususally just feel the odd little pokes and prods here and there and at night is when I feel the most kicking.. But last night that seemed to slow down too. When I pull out the doppler the heartbeat sounds fine. I called the doctor yesterday and all they would tell me is go into L&D if you notice movements decrease. I did talk to the doctor and told her that I had a doppler at home and pick up a normal heartbeat everytime and she says well if you are picking up a heart beat then everything is fine. But I am still concerned. I felt some kicking last night, but not as much and nothing since that I can recall... But she seems to stay pretty quiet while i sleep anyway normally.

I really just want to go into my doctor so they can measure me and make sure I seem to be growing correctly. I already know the heartbeat is there because i can hear it myself. That's all labor and delivery would do, right? Put me on a monitor. I'm a little frustrated.

Do anyone of you have quieter babies? I'm wondering if that is all this is. I know my daughter was really quiet my whole pregnancy, so I don't know if I just have another quiet baby on my hands. I just don't want to ignore it but I don't want to panic either. I think going into L&D isn't going to help me much if all they will do is put me on a monitor.

Babies slow down the further along you get usually due to running out of room. I agree with your doctor I'd heart rate is good and you are still feeling some movement I would just relax. At l&d they will put you on the monitor and ask you to record each movement. They may do a biophysical ultrasound where they watch baby's movement for a half an hour

I have a 3d ultrasound scheduled for December 30th... i'm so anxious that I can hardly wait. But I do want to see her earlier just for piece of mind. I wish she was a little more active though.. I think that would make me a lot less anxious.

One of my friends her baby rarely moved he was just always very quiet. Neither of my babies have been quiet so I'm not really sure. More than what they will do if you go in since I had twice where my first didn't move for over 12 hours. Once when I was about 24 weeks along and than once while I was in labor

I just felt a couple little thumps sitting here at the computer. My sister is coming over to and we are going to start working on baby shower invites today. (fun fun :D) I am going to keep an eye on it and not panic just yet. I probably just have another quiet baby in my belly. With my daughter she never moved and i didn't have a doppler. I remember checking myself into L&D at least 4 times, just to get sent home each time after they monitored me. I keep reminding myself of that. But it's still stressful.:wacko:

I am wondering if I have an anterior placenta too. When I do feel kicks they a lot of times seem muffled and a lot of times i feel them way down low. I need to ask my doctor about that next time i see her.

She's thumping around again now this morning. Whew. :)

I think i must have an anterior placenta because the kicks aren't clear they are like muffled thumps. I need to find out for sure.

lie down on your side, drink some juice, and you should count 10 movements in 2 hours. If you don't i would suggest going to the hospital and telling them you are concerned about reduced fetal movements. they will admit you, hook you up to machines, and monitor your baby for a little while. I did this for my last pregnancy and everything turned out to be ok, but hey - better safe than sorry.

It's always better to be safe than sorry with movement, but there are a lot of factors that can contribute to not feeling a lot in the second trimester. Anterior placenta is definitely one of them - I've only been feeling daily movement for a couple weeks now, and it's definitely not all day. I'm sure my kick counts at this point would have me in the ER every day just because I can't feel him that much yet. My midwives have asked me if I'm feeling him much yet, but they weren't concerned that I wasn't feeling much at my 25 week appointment. You'll also feel the baby more or less depending on what position she's in. They're still shifting around a lot at this point.

It could also be a growth spurt. A lot of babies slow down during a growth spurt because they're sleeping a lot. I just went through one and he wasn't too active. Other possible growth spurt symptoms are constant hunger, round ligament pain, and (for me) terrible headaches. And of course, the bump gets bigger a day or two later.

OMG so me!!! I was thinking the same thing!! Sometimes I'll feel 10 in 10 minutes (almost alwasys at night ) But sometimes I feel nothing. Just the occasional thump and twinge here and there. I'd go nuts kick counting at this point!!!

Babies movement do not reduce rather they become less pronounced.
But that's not till further on than 25/26 weeks.
Any change in pattern of movement should always be checked out.

Ok so I called my doctor again and told them I really just wanted them to check me out but not have to go to L&D because heartbeat sounds goood on doppler. .They got me in at 3pm today to do an ultrasound to make sure all is well. I'll update here afterwards.

Good luck! Find out about that placenta while you're at it!

All looks fine. She is breech right now and kind of folded in half with her feet by her face, so maybe she just can't move too much. My measurements say im 27 weeks. So im not going to worry too much about it. Doctor said she looks fine.

BTW.. I got a 3D image out of it. I got to see her little face. She looks like her dad with my nose. :)

I've really only been feeling movements for maybe a few weeks now. They are not consistent and really random. I was excited to feel things, but I was worried that once I did I would be worried about not feeling things....Sometimes baby is just quiet. And if she is measuring a bit ahead, maybe she was just going through a growth spurt?

Yes and she wasn't jumping around all crazy during the scan either. She was waving with her hands and making swallowing movements but no major jumps or kicks. I'm sure I will get a good amount of movement once she decides to move out of breech!

I'm feeling little pokes and prods again tonight. I think i just have a mellow one again like my daughter was. lol

I'm glad everything looks good! Did you find out where your placenta is?

Well he (NP) said the placenta is up on top... So it's not really in front, but the baby's feet are by her face, up on top right now so that may be why im not feeling her as much these last few days. her butt is down by my pelvic and head and feet are up.

That makes sense. A high placenta would muffle breech kicks, for sure. I still barely feel anything in one section, I'm pretty sure that's where the placenta is now.
