After being given a sweep yesterday morning at 10.30 am I had a fair bit of bleeding and mucus plug/show. I spent the day bouncing on my birthing ball, had a spicy curry for tea and dtd before bed!

Well at 6am I was woken up with a very intense urge for a poo! But the sortof feeling that got me up on all fours in bed! This wore off and I tried to get back to sleep. Ten mins later I had another and new exactly what was happening! Ten mins later another that woke oh up. By 7am we decided to get my 2 year old up and call the grandparents.

The contractions by this point were coming incredibly fast and I was really struggling to move out of my bedroom! Eventually we managed to get me to the car at about quarter past 8 (Id been sick, wet myself and had diareha in this space of time LOL). We got to the hospital about half 8.

When I got into the lovely midwife led unit they checked me once just to see how dilated I was, I was 4cm! I have to say I was gutted lol. HOWEVER, I was given gas and air which really helped as it calmed me down. I got in the pool and quite soon after started to push. I was on all fours with my oh holding my gas and air for me (he was an absolute star). I managed to sortof get myself into a 'zone' of managing the pain too well so I wasnt progressing lol so I had to move positions. I ended up on my side with one leg up pushing against the side of the pool and holding onto a cloth swing that they have in there. Well as soon as I did this the pushing became so intense but was amazing having the swing to hold onto! After the first push the midwife told me the baby was starting to get tired so I really needed to make the next one the longest hardest ever! So I did and his head was out! I had a tiny break in between then pushed out the rest of him at 10:56 am! Only 2 and a half hours after arriving lol.

He was born still in his waters!

I have no tears or grazes and it didnt hurt to go for a wee woohoo :)

Were back home now and he is breast feeding pretty well but is a real fist sucker!!

So glad its all over and he IS my last lol.

Oh and whoever said spd gets better after labour lied lol. Im a million times worse.

xx

Congratulations! did u know that it is considered really good luck and very rare to have your baby born in it's waters? I'm really hoping I can do a waterbrth, my hospital only has two pools. One that water births are allowed in. And one that u are able to labour in . And it's first come first served though.
