Baby Sick - Change Formula?

Just looking for a bit of advice, my baby is 8 days old, and was breast fed for 4 days. Since the change from BF to Formula hes been feen, but from yesterday he was having little sicky moments after a feed... however not a lot.... then this morning after his feed, about 30mins later he was really sick, must have emptied the full contents of his wee belly, and it all just flew out.

Im wondering if maybe i should change the formula? My daughter was never sick as a baby so ive not really experienced this. I used SMA with my daughter so chose the same this time but ive read Aptimal is really good.

If i do change do I just to it right away or should it be gradually introduced?

I dont know if the reason is over eating too - he is a good eater (probably a bit greedy) when we changed to formula he was taking 3-4oz and is now on 4-5oz....

Any advice much appreciated x

Hi hun, the small amounts of 'sick' you get sometimes just after feeding are called possetting. This is when a small amount of milk comes back, usually with a bit of wind or simply because baby has wolfed down a little more milk then they need - they are nothing to worry about. However, being really sick is a worry. My LO did this once, threw up everything in his stomach. I never knew for sure what it was as he had no others symptoms but I did think it was maybe over feeding and I cut down on his feeds (went from 7 to 5 a day) and it seemed to do the trick and it hasn't happened again. However, babies can be sick for other reasons so I would recommend you consider taking LO to the docs if it happens again as they can get dehydrated really easily.
As for brands, I've always used Aptamil and it's been very good for us so have never changed but from what I've read on here if you decided to change then it is best to do it gradually.

My daughter was doing this for weeks and weeks it turned out to be reflux so just keep your eye on it if you do change formula.

havent had anymore violent sick or anything, just the normal little sick after a feed sometimes but not all the time or anything... so think everything is quite normal. I have changed however over to Aptamil from today so fingers crossed this goes down well with my LO. x

Aptamil is great very easily digested That's great you have had no more sickness!
