LO has been breaking out of her swaddle lately so i am going to switch her into baby sleeping bags. they seem very long though - what do you do with the excess length? do you just stick them in the cot like that or fold under the extra "empty" bit so they are truly "feet to foot" in the cot? thanks.

I don't do anything with it if I'm honest never really thought about it Millie just goes in it, but she is quite lolng apparently but unless they're double the length of the baby I don't think it'll do any harm ( by this I mean being able to kick it over themselves)x

I used to tuck it into the bottom of the cot, but realised it doesnt make any difference

I don't do anything with it. The sleeping bag straps are securely over his shoulders so I know he can't wriggle down into it.
xx

I was confused about this post too and I posted the exact same question on B&B!!

So, you put LO 'feet to foot' so they cant wriggle under the blanket. With a sleeping bag, which necks not too wide, they cannot wriggle under so there is no need for feet to foot with a sleeping bag.

And I just leave the length and put Anna in the middle of the cot.:flower:

ah I see, thanks.

The reason for putting them 'feet to toe' is so that you tuck blankets in so they can't wriggle under them, obviously with sleeping bags they can't wriggle under so it doesn't matter.

I do this to :)

me too.. :flower:

I've always done this too. Now that Evie is older, she starts the night off up the top end of her cot. Usually by the morning, she's lying horizontally across the foot end, sleeping bag or not! Being such a fidgety baby in her sleep, she has never wriggled down into the empty part of her sleeping bag tho

I use sleeping bags, I think they are sized by age. You can get also the Grobag types, which look huge, but with the underarm clip they are ok for small babies too, as they can't slip inside it.

My LO wears 68-74 now, and I think her sleeping bags are 80 (this is size 6-12 months) i believe.
