Im freaking out....im debating c section based on the fact last birth Iwas told my pelvis was to small and she was stuck and not getting oxygen evertimeg I pushed near the end. She almost died. Was getting ready for c section but surgeon wasnot available suddenly so vvaccume was used. I do NOT want to risk my second baby's life. Has anyone had this happen? Back in thr day they measured ur pelvis so my mom didnt have vaginal births after being told she could not. Im not a tiny person but just odd it happened to me that way kinda too. I will be talking about c section instead. But just nervous. Id so rather do vaginal but it was traumatizing for both me and baby. Plus dad. She was in Nicu for few days also for that reason on oxygen and everything :(....any advice?

If the baby came out vaginally in the end, then your pelvis is not too small for a vaginal delivery.
Its certainly understandable that after such a traumatic birth you would want t avoid any chance of experiencing it again, and its absolutely your choice to have a cesarean.
However I strongly believe that having an upright labour next time will lead to a better outcome next time. I'm assuming you were pushing on your back as thats by far the most common position with Drs. However its absolutely the least effective. Laying on your back doesn't allow your coxyx to move out of the way so the diameter of your pelvis is smaller, and also you're literally pushing uphil. By being n an upright position, which can even just be on your hands and knees on the bed, you are able to open more and us gravity to help baby descend.
Additionally when a baby is stuck, quite often something as simple (from a technical aspect - certainly not easy for a labouring woman to do herself anyway) as changing positions resolves the issue.

I you decide on a Cesarean I would strongly suggest you wit until you are in labuor rather than scheduling one (which your Dr will almost certainly insist on for convenience, but the hormone cocktail released at the onset of labour has so many benefits to the baby. You may also wish to look into a gentle Cesarean and "seeding" baby's microbiome with vaginal swabs at birth. However it happens its YOUR birth.

I hope that helps you make a decision.

Thanks :) yes, baby was stuck and not breathing because of the shaping of pelvis and would not have came out without being sucked by vaccume in the end. She was stuck because of how narrow or the sizing of pelvis, but its not impossible like it was for my mother. She couldnt at all. But my baby could have been severely hurt and she was not breathing and almost died. So after that and further research I have decided that it would be better to do c section. Also worried becuase hubby is out of town 3 weeks a month for work... so scheduling would be best however im worried if I go into labor ahead of time. He needs to be there. Well figure it out. I would so rather do natural birth like last time but I dont feel for me that its a good idea. I did push in MANY different positions that they realised was not help in either. She was losing more oxygen every time I wiuld push since her face was being squished. They were supposed to do c section but no surgeon to do it. Most crazy thing I ever heard but he was busy with another. I will look into what u mentioned though :) thank you. I really wish I was up for natural and I know it could be different tis time but I dont thibk its worth possibly losing baby again.

I agree with everything that NDH said, and there's really no way to know that the baby wouldn't have come out in different circumstances without a vacuum. Your pelvic opening is 30% smaller when you're on your back -- that's a huge difference! I would definitely try to have the baby upright or on hands and knees for maximum room. Having someone perform a hip squeeze helps open the pelvis since it compresses the illiac crests together and opens up the bottom portion of the pelvis. In fact, just moving onto your hands and knees has a very high rate of success in helping babies with shoulder dystocia be born!

We tried other positions for pushing. The baby would have for sure died had they not immediatly used the vaccume as she had NO oxygen and surgeon was not available. Now I am just for sure not doing natural when I go back to thinking how traumatic it was for baby and I. Its just not worth my child's life to be selfish and do it in a way that could possible hurt the second baby. Everyone was running in our room to save our baby's life...I didnt see her for hours after or even when she came out. But she was not breathing and was purple. I pushed for hours on end in position u can think of.

We tried for 5 and a half hours to get baby out by pushing. In all different position and with the birthing tools they have. If we would have not used vaccume she would not be here.

That really would have been a scary experience for you.
Prolonged pushing (5+ hours) isn't uncommon when Drs don't jump to intervene with instruments or surgery but the fact she wasn't tolerating it well and nearly died certainly very understandably would make you wish to avoid a similar traumatic experience in future.

If previous trauma isn't properly dealt with it can really negatively impact labour and birth.

I do believe its something that would be unlikely to happen again but I certainly understand your fear and anxiety keeping you from wanting to try.
I'm just glad you are making an informed decision :flower:

That does sound traumatic, I'm so sorry you and your baby went for that! I totally understand your hesitations and concerns about attempting another vaginal birth. I was under the impression that you were forced to be on your back since that's usually the norm when it comes to pushing.

Thanks ladies :) yes I really kind of went into that birth know in nothing and nothing planned lol so that was even worse to see that they were so unorganized as well, or so it seemed. ( no back up surgeon to deliver c section) who does that! But yeah I really would like to try again but I just dont even wanna chance it. It was very scary. Plus her being hospitalised for few days after on oxygen made me so mad. Could have been avoided. Yeah from what I hear any pushing over 3 hours and they stop n do c section. I guess depending. I do want that mommy baby time after tho right away and to nurse so im guessing epideral over the general anestisia.... need to look more into it. But I didnt get that last time either. I dunno its all scary lol. Never know what can happen. I appreciate all the advice and thoughts, havnt talked much about it. But I guess I will see what doc says next time. The doc I saw last (since mine was sick) just said she thinks if I wasnt two weeks over due like last time (which yeah I was 14 days over) that I should be fine. But again well see :) :)

But who knows maybe ill just try for natural (with epideral tho) I hadthe epideral last time. Ugh ssooooooo painful. And it wore off at 9 cm. Totally. But the more I hear about c section too the more I fear. Well see.
