Well i had my growth scan today & my little man is measuring small :nope:

Just wondering if anyone knows how small 4 pound 7 ounces is for a baby at 34 weeks? Cause the sonographer didnt tell me if hes very small or just a little small:wacko:

xx:hugs:

hiya i had mine last week at 32 weeks and she was 4lb 8 x i ot told she had long legs thats why shes that big x

That is not small for 34 weeks. My baby is about 3/4lbs now at 31 weeks so that doesn't sound small at all really. It makes me cross when they make you unduly worried about size...everyone is so different, each baby, each pregnancy, each mother......

My nan is a prime example of this - she could only carry babies that were 3/4lbs at birth (!!!)...but that was NORMAL FOR HER! The babies are now strapping 6 foot adults!!!!

Dont worry honey, its not worth it xxx

i wouldnt worry at all my friend gave birth 2 weeks ago at 34 something weeks and her baby was 4lb 11 so not much difference :hugs: xx

It doesn't sound small to me either hun :flower: babies put on around half a lb every week on average so you should be looking at a 7lb baby I would think! I am having a lil heffer and she weighed 3lb1 at 28+3  x

Leni was 3lbs 4oz at 29 weeks so i bet he's a right porker now  x

Do you need a scan to tell you the weight? Does everyone get this? Never heard of it before but i'd definitely be intruiged to know! But no 4lbs7 doesn't sound small at all for that stage, like ttc_lolly said the last few weeks are when most of the weight goes on x

Kirst - yeh they tell u at NHS growth scans or u can have them done privately! Of course they are only still an estimate... my friend was told her baby was going to be big, between 9-10lbs, so they gave her a c-sec and he was just under 6lb! x

I would also say that your LO doesnt sound small. My son was 4lb1oz when he was born at 36 weeks but stopped growing at 33 weeks so would say your LO is about average?!?!

This LO is 3lb at 28 weeks tho!!! a right porker!!!

:hugs:

Thanks everyone :flower: feel alot better now lol

I had to have a growth scan cause i measuring 31 weeks at 34 weeks :(

& because the midwife couldnt tell whether he was still breech (which he is) lol

But im very small myself so the midwife said that she would expect me to have a smallish baby, got to have another scan in 2 weeks to check again:flower:

Not so little Charlie was 3lb 11oz at my 28 week growth scan...His daddy is 6"5 and Charlie seems to have got his dads height too as he's legs are very long too...He's had this since 16 weeks

I don't think your baby's small for the gestation at all

xx

It sounds like your baby is probably something similar to mine at the moment. I had my last scan at 32 weeks 6 days and she was 3lb 15oz, they said that she's at the bottom of the scale for size and that it was small "for me" and that they'd be worried if she was any smaller

But I don't think that 3lb 15oz is a bad weight at nearly 33 weeks, I think she's well on her way to being at least 6lb+ there at birth and I don't see a problem with that.

I have my next scan just to make sure she's definitely still growing properly and putting on weight next week and I reckon if all is well she'll be about 4lb 10z by then hopefully!

Try not to worry, if they weren't concerned then you shouldn't be concerned :hugs:

xxx

I wouldn't worry too much love, I'm going through the same thing. They estimate my little one at about 3lb3 at 32+6 weeks. :(

They didnt say it was anything too serious, just that they are going to keep an eye and that she will just be a little baby. But, your baby sounds bigger than mine so, yey!

I wouldn't worry, these growth scans aren't accurate anyway, they tell you that you're having a small baby and it comes out huge and vice versa.

My specialist tells me that there is no way to predict weight accurately xx

i agree with alot of the girls..i had mine done last week and im told he weights under 5lb which im told is perfect. so you at 34 weeks 4lb i wouldnt worrie your little self :)

xx

That sounds like a fine weight to me. I had a growth scan yesterday at 35+5 and he was estimated at 7lbs 5ozs but told it's bigger than normal. Tbh babies are not textbook, as long as they don't seem overly concerned I wouldn't worry yourself. And as long as your fundal height is increasing it shows your bubs is growing. Also like the other ladies said scans can be way out so take it with a pinch of salt Xx

at 34+2 lo was 5lbs 2 they thought i was going have a lil 1 thats why ive had 4 scans turns out there are wrong and growing fine haha dont worry hun xxx

thats not small by any means for 34w

Those are guestaments...they can be off as much as 2lbs!! They were with my niece. They said she'd be over 7lbs and she was only 5lb 6oz... So dont hold much faith in them, it can swing either way.

my baby was around 4lb 7oz at 31 weeks and i wad told that was over average

doesn't sound like anything to worry about hun :hugs:

I had a growth scan at 37 weeks that suggested my baby was 6lb3oz. I was told that these measurements are most often within a half pound either way (so he would have been between 5lb11oz and 6lb11oz on the day the scan was done) Sometimes they are out more though due to the babies position ect...

He was born on his due date weighing in at 8lb30z.
