My DS turns 7 mo today

Birth Weight -2.9 kg (6.4 lbs)
Weight now -7.9-8 kg (17.5 lbs)

Feeding Schedule -:nope: ,there is none really .But the following are the quantities he normally takes
1.BF -as and when i can when i get back from work and when he wants to sleep .(i believe i have supply issues too )
2.FF- about 10-16 oz while i am at work .
3.Carbs -cereals/potatoes/oats -about 6-10 baby spoons once or twice .
4.Fruit puree -4-6 baby spoons
5.Finger food -Heinz biscuits , Farleys Rusks -1 or 2
6.Orange Juice -2 oz
He gets to bed by 8 at night and mostly doesnt take any solid food at night/dinner or just some finger food may be

So my question is : I just checked the WHO weight chart and he falls below the average weight for babies of this age and he is not really chubby like he used to be , what should i be doing that he gets healthier -he is very very active though crawls around a lot (that must be causing his slow weight gain ) but still i dont want him to stay below average .
can someone suggest me a diet plan for my baby .

Sorry for the long post ::cry: a super worried mom :(

You are worried over nothing! He doesnt have to average as long as he isnt falling below 1 percentile he is fine. He seems to be eating plenty. My friends lo is 14 months old and weights 18lb. The HV is fine with his weight and i think he was born just over 7lbs.
My lo has only gained 4lb in 8 months which is since he has been on 3 solid meals a day so I dont think more food is the answer.( he weighed 20lbs at that point) :hugs:
If you are really worried take him to a weigh in clinic and bring it up but honestly I see no problem.

They want baby to double birth weight by 4-6 months. Your baby has easily done that. Don't worry.

The thing about average weights in that half of babies will be below it. Below average weight isn't bad, maybe he's just a little dude. He was smaller than average at birth too, so it's not surprising that he still is.

If I'm reading the chart right (so hard to see on the computer) he was between 9th and 25th percentile at birth and is now just above the 25th percentile - he's actually a little bit bigger than might be expected by his birth weight. He's doing just fine.

The point of the weight chart isn't to get as close to average as possible, it's to make sure they're sticking to their growth curve. The doctor would worry if your baby had been big at birth and was suddenly below average, that's all.

His weight sounds about right to me for a baby who was on the smaller side at birth. My daughter was 6 lbs 9 oz at birth and was 17lbs 10oz at 7 months, which was 65th centile (so bigger than average). Obviously, boys do tend to be heavier than girls, but as he was born at 6.4lbs, he'd be expected to be a bit smaller at that age, so he probably falls right around average or just below, which is exactly where he should be. They shouldn't massively jump up the centiles at this age or drop down either, but as long as he's maintaining his centile line, he's doing fine. If you're concerned about maintaining his weight, just make sure he's getting plenty of milk as his main source of calories, and then food really just for exploring as it's less calorie dense. I think there is a tendency in our culture to focus on solid food rather than milk when we want babies to grow, but actually it's the other way around. Milk has more calories, fat and protein than most babies can get from solids. So as long as he's talking all the milk he wants, plus moving towards having 3 solid meals a day (you don't have to be doing 3 a day at the moment but eventually he'll get there), he's doing great. If you want suggestions on things to feed him, I'd start moving in the direction of more protein (eggs, meat, yogurt) and less sweet things (porridge, fruit puree, biscuits, juice). It's not necessarily because it will help him put on weight but more because he's getting to the age where he can have more normal adult foods and less 'baby food' if that makes sense.
