Ok I've been bathing Rocco every other day. He has a lot of hair and it kind of gets greasy pretty easily. I've noticed on top in the front of his head, it smells funny. The only way I can describe it...if you've ever broken a bone and had a cast on, the smell under the cast. Euwwwwwww. I guess it's the smell of wet nasty skin. It almost smells yeasty too. He had a tiny spot of cradle cap on the back of his head and I noticed a little bit of dry skin in the front. Could it be the cradle cap?? It's gross and I hate having my baby stink! Especially when people hold him and smell his head expecting it to smell like baby and it doesn't!!

Yep, sounds like cradle cap. Over here we have a great cradle cap shampoo by Dentinox which has cleared up all Byron's cradle cap and gets rid of the smell right away. Some people also use oil on it which I think softens the crusts so they can be brushed out but I'd recommend a shampoo.

I'd recommend Dentinox if you can get hold of it. It worked a treat on Alex. I love the smell and still wash his hair with it now - even though his cradle cap disappeared months ago :)

Doesn't look like we can get it over here but I looked on their website and found the ingredients so I can find something equivalent to it. Thanks so much ladies!!

If you cant get hold of it hun il be happy to post if over for you x

Thank you Fern!! I think I'll be able to find something comparable over here. I saw a couple of natural ones too but not sure if I want to spend as much.

Hi all i came across this thread and was hoping to get some help about my dd hair. She is 5weeks and i noticed this foul smell only on top her head and when i took a closer look at the scalp, i found a thick crust. I read dentinox works perfectly for cradle cap but i wasn't sure if what she has is cradle cap because of the smell. Any help will be appreciated as i intend to g out now to get vaseline and dentinox if recommeded

George's head smells like a wet dog! I am washing it every day.

I used olive oil. Soaked in through the day then baby shampoo at night. It brushed right out.

Yes that is cradle cap - Caitlyn has lots of hair and had it quite badly but it was hard to get to and impossible to comb out so we used the shampoo - which smells lovely!

same here
dentinox did nothing for us so i got prescribed a thick cream for it which doesnt smell any better lol but is doing a much better job
i was told the other day that oil on the scalp actually feeds it
it looks like my psoriasis aha wish i could use some of my stuff on it but its probably not suitable for babies lol

Sophia used to have cradle cap really bad, I washed it with dentinox then after her bath put baby oil all over where the cradle cap was left it for 10 mins to soak in then combed and brushed the dead skin out after doing this twice her cradle cap completly cleared up and hasnt come back (it covered the whole top of her head so wasnt mild either) xx
