I just got back from my 25 week u/s and the tech noticed the hb skipped sometimes. My OB hooked me up to a monitor and said that while it's probably nothing they are referring me to a specialized dr who will do a u/s for the heart I will go this week. I'm nervous but think it will be ok anyone else have experience with this?

No experience but hope everything goes well at your appointment!

I'm so sorry you are having a scare. I hope all goes well with the ultrasound!

At my 22week appt the OB was listening to baby on the doppler and his heart rate went from 150 to 100 and stayed there for a long while before climbing back up.

I was sent for a level 2 US of the baby's heart. All was perfect, and the heart rate didn't drop once.

The perinatologist explained that things are still developing, and syncing up with baby, which is why they need to stay in utero until full term. He told me, more than once he has been doing an US on a baby and seen the heart actually stop for a few moments, and then begin beating again - and those babies were totally healthy and fine at birth.

Big hugs, I hope all is ok for your baby too.

I know someone on here had their baby's heartrate go up to the 200's and had to go on a cardiac medication. I know with adults the whole skipping a beat thing is not a concern unless they are having symptoms. In a fetus/infant I have no clue! I hope you get some answers soon. I am sure you can handle whatever they tell you but I think the waiting has got to be the worst! As someone else stated hopefully LO is still developing...

Yep, I've had this since 16 weeks hun. But my baby's heartbeat skips all the time (every third/fourth beat). I went to the hospital last week and they said it's an ectopic heartbeat (an added few beats to his heartbeat), which is probably nothing to worry about and will correct itself before the baby is born. She told me to stay away from caffeine, which I've never touched anyway. Also went to my 20 week scan and the sonographer said his heart looks completely normal and growing lovely. It is really scary though. I stopped using my doppler because of this as It's constantly skipping. But fingers crossed all should be fine :)

no help here, but wanted to tell you i hope all goes perfectly at your next scan. sorry you are having a bit of a worry~

I've no experience here Hun, but I hope everything turns out perfect.

no experience with this but my OH's heart does this.. hope all goes well x

I'm sure all is fine, good luck for your appointment. During my scan when I saw the heartbeat I commented that the volume was off and the sonographer said on many occasions previously, whilst scanning, babies heartbeats have stopped and suddenly start up again. Which of course is very distressing for parents but completely normal. So they avoid the worry by leaving the sound off. If that can happen and babies are fine, I imagine yours will be too :hugs:

Thanks everyone for your comments and support. The new Dr.'s office has called me and scheduled an appointment for Friday morning, i am thankful that i don't have to wait over the weekend but was hoping to get in today sometime. I'll follow up once I know more.

We just got back from the through ultrasound with the maternal and fetal specialist and everything looked perfect. They did not detect the irregular beats plus everything else (brain, heart, bones, everything) looked perfect. I am sooo sooo happy!!!! Thank the lord!

I'm so glad everything looks perfect!
