Hi there,

So last month was our first month of trying, I was 4 days late and then suddenly appeared the dreaded period. It was my longest cycle to date 31 days. So my last 4 month cycles have been 30,30,28,31.

How do I work out my ovalation dates?

So this month I started on the 1st Jan. Would it be 14-16 days after the 1st of your period? Does it matter that my cycles are a bit varied.

Any tips on getting that positive test?

Thanks in advance xx

Normally you O 14 days before you get AF. But if you want to be sure, you could try using OPKs, that way you get a bit of warning when you're about to O.

Hello! Have you ever ready Taking Charge of Your Fertility? It talks about the myth that the medical community tells women about having your cycle on the 14th day. Some women have regular O dates, some women O at different dates each cycle. Also, you may O at the same time each month and THEN for whatever reason your body can decide to ovulate later! You could start using OPKs and temping to confirm ovulation, or you could have sex every other day which should ensure that you hit your fertile window. I don't know if you have ever done this before, it is a lot of work but can be very helpful. Good luck!

Hi, so just an update. I've finished my period now. I've been getting a lot of sharp camps in my lower abdomen on the right hand side, not to sure what that is about. So my next period is in 24 days. My fertile days start Monday 11th. I've been taking my folic acid for the last month. Did anyone change there eating habits when they were trying? I'm surrounded by biscuits & chocolate from the festive period which is really annoying! I've got ovalation tests should I do it on the first day I'm fertile?

Thanks in advance X

That would be a good bet. CD10 or 11 is usually when I start. But just an fYI, I ovulate between CD13-17 and once on CD 21 but have never had "irregular cycles." if your cycle length fluctuates, then your O day likely fluctuates a day or two as well because your luteal phase length (the time from when you ovulate to when your AF starts) is usually pretty steady. I highly recommend temping but some people find it too stressful.

Hi everyone 😁 well im new to this website and chat and felt intrigued about this blog . Ive always had irregular periods but lately ive been feeling wierd ive had some symptoms. But went to clinic and got negative still haven't gotten my period since nov. 3 😪 ughhh going to make an apointment with an OB and see what happens this is my ttc#1 so im scared if anythings wrong with me or if im not fertil at all.... wish everyone best of luck with their journies tho!:)

Welcome,
I said it before, but I would really recommend temping to chart your cycles for a while. You learn sooooo much about your body and it really can help you get pregnant!
