Just starting second trimester and out of the blue my back has been hurting today :( Normal? I think it feels sort of tired-sore, lower back area, more to the right side. Since this is the first I've had of this, it makes me nervous :(

Hi, I deal with back pain every day, but mine's mid back and related to sitting at work all day,I find getting up and walking around every 10 mins helps.

I don't think my back pain really started til 16wks or so but at 12wks I had bad pelvic pain :-( So you can get these pains early on, I think it's just everything stretching and loosening up, plus extra weight in the front.

I saw a physio who said my hips were out of alignment and gave me some exercises, they can also get you a pelvic belt. But also mention it to your dr/ midwife :)

I had awful low back pain the other day and I put it down to little miss giving my back a good kicking!

But I remember being early 2nd tri and having the low back ache too I think it was all the stretching going on

Hope it passes soon for you :hugs:

Everything is stretching and loosening now, and back pain is common despite you only being 13 weeks. It's hard to believe how early some symptoms show up. If you ever feel uneasy about something contact your Dr or midwife. They get paid to reassure you. It never hurts to call to ease your mind.

I suffer with back pain anyway but it's defiantly been worse the last few days. moving around helps and they are some exercises you can do on the gym ball that can help and are safe to do in pregnancy.

I also have a long standing back issue following a car accident years ago and the last few days it seems to have flared up. Ive just started a new job which involved more driving so i wonder if thats triggering it

I feel you on the lower back pain. I'm only 14 weeks and I've been really sore since yesterday. I've heard it's normal even this early in the second trimester. Hope you feel better :)

Back pain is usually my first sign of pregnancy and I have it all the way through the pregnancy! Mine is mostly sciatica. I feel bad for you I do cause I know it sucks!!

Yep I feel you! My Dr explained the spine is curving and adjusting with my growing belly, even when it's just starting, as my stomach is naturally pushed out the lower back is strained. She suggested massage, rest (of course), and I'm personally hoping some yoga might help that I plan to start in the fall. What scares me is that it's this noticeable at such an early stage :/ I'm scared of third tri!
