During night feeds I get terrible backache sitting in bed. I fully support myself using pillows etc but still hurts :( I don't want to leave the room to go to the nursery where we have a chair for me to feed cos it's freezing! No room in our room for the chair either I've tried lol... I do lie down to feed sometimes but LO tends to spit up lots when lying we have to be more upright.

How do you ladies feed in bed and still support your back?

I have this problem too. I usually bring her to the living room to feed for this reason cause I cant bare it! I need to be comfortable while feeding her. Past times when I have fed her in my bed I would prop up a bunch of pillows..it works for the most part.

Did you have an epidural? I seem to get back pain every night towards the evening which I never had prior and im thinking its either from the epidural or my poor posture. I always rested on my belly (which was huge) while pregnant and now that its gone I still slouch a lot.

Yes I had an epidural, it failed though, only worked on the one side, I guess that could be part of the problem although it is a grey area as to whether epidurals cause long term backache or not.

I might have to suck it up and leave the room then, I was in agony this morning so it's gotta be for the best :) thanks for the reply

Have you tried putting a pillow on your lap under the LO? That way you dont have to hunch over so much.

I've tried bunnyN but he seems to sink into it, we can never find the right height, pillows too high, too low, he fusses and I wriggle trying to get comfy, it's awful! Maybe my pillows need replacing! He's quite a heavy bub and obviously with no head control yet I'm fully supporting him. The pillows work well on the sofa just not in bed. Could be that my legs are up in bed?

I've brought one of the sofa back cushions and have it against the headboard. Makes a big difference.

My epidural worked TOO well..i was numb from my toes to my chest...I couldn't even feel my breasts and for a few weeks afterward my right thigh was numb..

My daughter sinks into her pillow too I sometimes put a regular pillow under my nursing pillow for extra lift..it just ends up being too much and annoying me more than helping me.

The things we go through hey! I thought it was just me being fussy!

I would invest in a proper nursing pillow. saved my back for sure.:flower:
