So, I'm about 6 weeks pregnant, found out I've probably had BV since before I got pregnant, and now the doctors are telling me I cannot take the FLAGYL GEL untill my second trimester, but i'm scared if i wait till then the bacteria will harm the baby, what do you think or have you heard about it?! :(

I'm not sure about Canada but here in the UK, BV is treated with antibiotics no matter what stage of pregnancy (although we may have different drugs licenced for use here). BV is more commonly linked to problems during the second and third trimester but even then a lot of women have BV during pregnancy and have a completely normal pregnancy with no medical intervention.

This FLAGYL gel (I think we have something similar here called metronidazole) may have been found not to be safe in early pregnancy, by the scientists who undertake research in Canada, which is why your doctor is waiting until the second trimester. I'm sure he knows what he's doing so try not to worry :flower:
