Anyone have any idea why sudden calf pain would come on. I have been sat in a car for 3 hours and sat in hospital for a couple of hours (for a scan and consultant appointment). I haven't done anything out of the ordinary so I don't know whats brought it on.

Its very painful to point my toes and it hurts quite a lot to stand up straight. The pain in like an unbelievable tightening which just seems to to be getting worse quite fast.

Anyone have any ideas. I'm 13w3d :)

Dehydration? I suspect they are ruling out DVT with the tests, but dehydration causes cramps and headaches

I've heard calf pain/cramps are normal in pregnancy, and I've started to get them myself. It feels like a Charlie horse and I have to stretch it out for it to stop. But not sure you're experiencing the same type of pain. I don't know what causes it, but it seems to happen more to me in the middle of the night when I've been still for hours.

I agree with the pp, if anything just make sure you're drinking lots of water and staying hydrated. My dr told me that once I've felt like I've drank enough water for the day, drink more. Lol. It can make a big difference, with headaches too.

I get leg cramps from dehydration for sure but in your case as your pg and have been sedentary for a number of hours I would definitely say get it checked.
I bet its nothing but get it looked at just incase.

Thanks ladies

I'm not getting leg cramps its a constant pain in both my calfs. When I lay down or sit with my legs up the're fine but when I stand up/walk/stretch my feel out it hurts an awful lot.

There is no way its dehydration. Today was scan day so ive drank shedloads of water and i'm generally a big drinker.

I wasn't thinking DVT either as that just seems to severe and I haven't been in 1 position for long enough.

I really have no idea what is causing it but I have no cramping just a lot of pain in I put pressure on my legs or move my feet. It'll be nothing though and hopefully will have gone when I wake up tomorrow.

Is it pain or pins and needles? My sister had pins and needles, numbness and then pain from the pins and needles. Turns out her baby was stimulating a nerve in her leg.

DVT isn't just caused by being still. I have varicosing spider veins and was tested for DVT. The quantity of blood going through your body increases your risks of clots and pressure on your veins can cause pain. Some people have 'sticky' blood, increasing their clotting risk too. Additionally too much water can cause dehydration issues as your electrolytes become unbalanced. What you might need is salt. Hope you get to the bottom of things soon.

The pain was like I had ran a few miles and my muscles had tightened right up. I couldn't stretch my legs out. I had no pins and needles and no cramping just really tight muscles.

Its loads better today. I'm still getting a bit of pain in my right calf but I can walk fine today. I have no idea what it was but it was quite painful. I had done no extra exercise so I know I can rule that out. Hopefully that's the end of it!
