Hi ladies, I just got my cd21 test back (actually went and had them done on cd24 as I don't have a 28 day cycle) and my progesterone level was 0.2.

Has anyone ever had them that low??

The nurse said that's usually indicative of menstruating (which I'm not, last period was Feb 11th and AF *should* be due on March 13th) but she still seemed very concerned at the number. I also have very irregular periods and very erratic temps. My doctor wants me to set up an appointment for consultation and possible fertility treatment, which led me to believe that my level was an abnormal one. Thanks!

Can't they just put you on progesterone? I know several girls who have had to be put on that, and then got pregnant!

I don't know.....she was kind of abrupt about everything....I don't think she even believed me when I said I wasn't menstruating. This wasn't the doctor I spoke to, it was her Medical Assistant. She then said to chart for another 2 months and then call for a consultation.

Hey honey... My progesterone level was 0.8 (after taking Clomid) when my regular gyno referred me to the fertility specialist......

I am sorry you got crappy results, but hopefully you can get some answers soon!

Oh gosh, Im sorry :( I think you should go to another doc and get on the hormones that you need to be. Obviously your not getting your period because your hormones are off track, thankfully they can put you on meds to get them where they should be so you will get your period and get pregnant hopefully!

No, I'm getting periods every month (or just about every month) They're just very irregular. Sorry for the confusion.

Ovulation day varies from cycle to cycle, as do cycle days. They can be anywhere from 28 days to 44 days. Ovulation can be from cd 14 to cd 25.Based on OPK's and CM, I thought I had ovulated on February 27th. But with a level of 0.2, I obviously didn't.

Do they repeat the C-21 tests though? I thought they would want me to come back a few more times. I'm a little surprised they're already talking fertility specialists.

Could a level of 0.2 be so low as to indicate ovulation would never happen - in any cycle?

I think progestrone that low could indicate no ovulation. Mine was low they said it was 4 but I don't really know what these numbers mean and if it is different to how it might be measured in the US but I was told this meant I wasn't ovulating despite my LH and FSH levels - checked on CD5 being normal. Hope you get that referral and some answers and treatment soon

Sorry to hear about your bad results :( Hope you get t all worked out soon! Good luck :hugs:

Hi,

I know what you mean about wanting to go back and have the CD21 tests a couple more times but if your results indicate that you didnt ovulate one cycle then this means that more than likely you didnt O on other cycles either so its best to be referred to the FS to see how they can help.

My results were 1.5 (though as other people have mentioned, the UK and US systems for measuring progesterone are different) and i've been prescribed Clomid from the FS to ensure that I O each cycle. from looking at my charts, the dr thinks I may have O'd once in the last 7 months (suggesting that my shortest cycle of 33 days was when that could've happened)

I guess on the bright side, at least they've run the tests and are now sending you to the FS wihch is all really proactive and a positive step forward in the baby making quest.

:hug::hug::hug:

good luck. PM me if you want to chat more about it

:)

My result was 11 which apparently indicated that I didn't ovulate either so I don't really know where they get all these different numbers from, lol!!

Hi, I had a low result for a cd21 test (I can't remember the result, it was over 2 yrs ago) and was having long and irregular cycles at the time. I did tell them that due to the length of my cycles that it was unlikely that I would have ovulated by then, but they dismissed this and told me that they only do this test on cd21.

Eventually I was referred to a FS and they were much more helpful, positive and listened to what I had to say. I've had 2 cd21 tests since then and have been told that I'm definately ovulating. With the help of metformin and clomid my cycles are much shorter and more regular now.

If I were you I'd get that consultation and go with as much info as poss.

I was wondering why he would refer you to a specialist already?? Here where I live, the ob's handle basic hormone issues. So your getting positive opk's?

the things is, positive OPK's and correct CM at the right time of month dont confirm ovulation. I thought the same until i did some further research. if you temp and find that you're getting positive opk, your Cervix is in the right position, and your temp does the right thing then maybe you are Ovulating but based on the hormone tests I would assume that meant that you didnt this month. hope thats helpful :)

oh also, OPK's pick up LH hormone. your body produces LH when its preparing to ovulate but doesnt mean it goes through with the ovulation. therefore a positive OPK (which detects LH levels) can be had without ovulation happeneing. I was gutted when i found this fact out

Careth, yes I do get +opk's, but that doesn't mean I'm ovulating. The gyn is actually going to have a consultation with me first and take things from there.
