Just for fun, I did the Baking Soda Gender test this am...

I put a TSP of Baking Soda in a disposable cup, then added some of my pee (which I collected in a seperate cup)-- and NO fizz... even after I swished it around a bit.

From what I've read... NO Fizz= Girl and Fizz= Boy

We should know in about 6wks if it's correct. hehe. Anyone else do this and already know the results or wanna try and post later if it was right?

I'll update this when we know for sure ;)

FYI- I had my friend recently do this (as she just found out she's having a Girl) and she had NO fizz.

UPDATE:

So we have our gender scan on Tues, May 31st, and it's a GIRL! So it was right for me? Coincidence? hmmmmm... hehe

I have never heard of this before...I think I may try it and see what happens hopefully I will get fizz because I really really really want a little boy!! Can't wait to see if you end up with a little girl. :)

Ooooh gonna try this when I get home ;) sounds fun X

Certainly JUST for fun... but there is part of me that feels like it's a girl :) Just not sure if it's "mothers intuition" or wishful thinking... LOL. No matter what, a healthy baby is what we want... but I did several "gender tests" and all say girl... so they are either all right or all wrong!!!! haha. I'm sure there are more I could do... LOL.

Chinese Gender Chart= GIRL.

Baking Soda Test (Fizzy/Boy or No Fizz/Girl)= GIRL

Higher HR above 140 (@170 last scan)= GIRL

Craving Sweets= GIRL

Mayan's Baby Prediction with Mothers Age/Year of Conception (if both even or odd then Girl, if one even and one odd then Boy)= GIRL

Lots of zits= GIRL

This is very interesting! I can't wait to go home and try it!

I'm gonna go home and try...every test I've done so far points to boy other than the ring test has always been girl then boy, but I've always had this feeling that we'd have a girl first but everything else is saying boy so I definitely wanna try this one! I'll let you know.

We will find out in about 6 weeks or so (hopefully)...it seems like ages away! Ugh! Hurry up summer and get here, I feel like this summer is going to be one of my funnest ever...i'll be in second tri and hopefully feeling a lot more confident and a lot better mentally and physically.

I'm right there with ya girl! As we are only 1week apart... hehe. So we should both know the gender for sure soon enough... and I cannot wait for summer months and cute outfits with a bigger belly! hehe ;)

Lemme know what the soda test shows-- all just in fun, but kinda neat to do hehe

I really just can't wait...I just read a thread that said hearing the heartbeat via ultrasound isn't really accurate????? That you should hear it via doppler to get the actual reading...have you heard this?

I've not heard that... but what would the difference be? At my OB they don't have a doppler on their ultrasound machine- so she just looks at the heartbeat to tell if it's good and "normal"- lol. But at our Fertility Clinic, they did have a doppler on their u/s machine- so when I had both my internal scans there we got to hear it and it showed us on the monitor what it was...

I'm guessing that would be the most accurate...???

apparently if the HB sounds like a train its a boy and if it sounds like a galloping horse its a girl

Sorry I didn't want to hijack your fun post with a bought of negativity...but yeah all the ultrasounds where I've heard the heartbeat have been transabdominal and we've seen it via transvaginal, but now that my doctor can see what she wants to see via abdominal that's how she's done it everytime. So I'm guessing hearing it abdominally would be good enough? I don't understand it, I don't know if I believe it but it's another thing to stress me out! Ugh!

I have also heard that if it sounds like a train it's a boy, galloping horses it's a girl...I don't know what mine sounds like yet. I'm too busy analyzing if it's strong enough or not! :dohh:

Hi

For the baking soda test can it be wee form anytime of the day or does it need to be the first one in the morning?
x

Mine fizzed for a BOY!! however the Chinese Calendar says GIRL and Mayen Conception Date says GIRL. Hmmmm its 50/50 anyway, guess we'll just have to wait.

I've got no instinctual inclinations as yet. Last time I definitely knew it was a girl and she was...lovely Holly Charlotte now 13 years old :) XX

I would THINK FMU is better as it's most concentrated... but I did mine with 2nd pee of the day! haha. Still looked strong enough ;) lol.

As this if my first pregnancy, I have NO clue if I'm right with my "intuition" or not- haha. We have my hubbies 13yr old daughter with us full time... so I'd love to give her a little sis. But honestly, after all we went through to get pregnant, healthy baby is top priority... hehe.

that is funny it fizzed for a boy... who knows? That would be fun for you to have one of each :) hehe

I'm on the train home...OH is gonna be late so I'm giving this a go when i get in before he thinks I'm potty!
I am thinking I'm having a girl - I've got to be because I've always been a tomboy & up a tree somewhere as a kid. No girl cousins as kids to play with, therefore I used to just punch around with the rest.
Both OH & my family have a collection of 8 boys & 1 girl in the kids generation.

We shall see tonight & then see in 7 weeks

No worries... you didn't high jack anything! hehe. We are woman- we go off on tangents often... haha ;)

I wouldn't worry at all hun- I'm sure what your doc see's or hears is very accurate... the Heart rate can change each appt anyway... our first appt at 6+4 is was like 127... then 170 at the 9wk scan... didn't seem to sound like either a train or horse though?! lol. Just a regular strong heartbeat... the u/s machine was turned up too loud the last time and even the receptionist said she could hear it! haha. But it just sounds like what a HB should sound like I thought ;) We even have it on video so we can listen when we want. hehe.

I'm sure your beans HB is JUST perfect hun!!!!! :flower:
