Barney?

As a boys name, does it just make you think of a big purple dinosaur? Stuggling with names SO much, especially boys ones!!

It reminds me more of the character on "How I Met Your Mother" at the moment, I think its a name where you would get dinosaur comments initially but then people would get used to it and associate it with your child and it would no longer be a problem.

Although I can see people winding you up about it if you announced it while you were pregnant up until the time the baby is born. So it depends if you want to deal with that.

I've got a friend with a little boy named Barney. Its a cute name and I don't think you'd find very many other Barneys....

I love Felix. I don't mind Barney as a nickname at all but think it's too informal as a proper name. How about calling him Bernhard and using Barney as a nickname?

That's a tough one. I am not a fan of Barney, but maybe Neil Patrick Harris will bring it fame with How I met your Mother, his character is hilarious.
I knew a guy FELIX growing up and always thought it was a cool name.

I think Barney is a very cute name. Recently i met a sweet, little, old man named Barney & thought it was the perfect name for him! However, i think the dinosaur association is a bit too strong... & kids would tease him. So, i wouldn't use it. I personally don't like the name Felix... but i don't think kids would tease that name... so if you like it... go for it!
