Violet has been complaining of her stomach hurting. It seems to happen when she eats, regardless of whether or not she over-eats. It also happens when she hasn't eaten. I've tried explaining to her that sometimes it hurts when you're hungry, sometimes it hurts when you've eaten too much, and sometimes it hurts when you're sick. Of course being 4, she has a hard time distinguishing between the various reasons for it and it's not clear to me when and why it's hurting. There have been a couple times recently, however, where she didn't know whether to eat or stop eating because of it. She thought she had eaten too much, but then she was still hungry, so that clearly wasn't the reason for it. I'm not sure if she ate too much or too little in the end.
Additionally, she was constipated recently and during that time, she had issues with feeling like she needed to pee, even though she didn't. This interfered with bedtime and between the confusion and being tired and ready for sleep, she became quite distressed and I couldn't do anything to calm her down. I had to just wait for her to process through the situation and calm down on her own. She also had issues with it in the morning. Well, eventually she didn't seem constipated anymore, but still complained of feeling the urge to go when she didn't need to. Last night it caused significant issue again.
So, I'm left wondering what to do, or if there's anything to do other than to wait for it to pass. Any thoughts or ideas? This also isn't the first time this has happened. Last time it happened, I thought she may have had a UTI, so I had her drink cranberry juice. After a few days, she had a huge poop and it went away and I realized it was constipation. This time, it didn't seem to go away after the constipation seemed to clear up. Is it possible it is just constipation that isn't clearing up as fast?
