As the title says. I have been breastfeeding my DD for 17months, and plan to continue into her second year then start weaning her. 4 or so of those will be tandem nursing, as I am expecting my second DD at the endd of December.

Currently I nurse my DD in the morning after she wakes, in the afternoon to get her down for a nap, and at night to get her down for bed. I occasionally nurse her between those times, if she comes to me to nurse. This is especially a thing if she is feeling ill. She has been feeling a bit under the weather because her 2year molars are coming in (these are the last of the baby teeth for her). A few nights ago before dinner I was nursing her, and i am not sure what happened exactly, but when I went to nurse her from the same side later that night it was extremely painful. The next day I noticed, whatever happened, she cause a nice ol blood blister on my nipple.

That being said, I have avoided nursing on that side until it heals up, but decided to pump today to get the pressure off.

Pumping has never worked for me. And I was discouraged way early on, and my pump has seen little use over the last 17 months. Either way I expected there to be quite a build up because for the last 3 days I have avoided nursing my daughter on the injured side. Nothing, absolutely nothing. SO for laughs, I tried on the uninjured side, still nothing. I use to get at least a steady stream for a few minutes, before, and now I get MAYBE a few drops.

I am now worried. Is DD getting nothing? But if she got nothing why would she what to nurse for such extended periods of time? Is pregnancy causing me to "dry up"? I just don't know what to think.

It may just be that your body doesn't respond to the pump, or maybe the flanges have degraded having been in the cupboard so long...

If nursing satisfies a need in your daughter and you are happy to continue I wouldn't worry about the milk.

Re the blister, my LO changed her latch when getting her molars and it was always sore. It went back to normal when the teeth were through. If she is hurting you she needs to be unlatched though as you don't want to start with a newborn and already have damage!

I heard someone else say milk can dry up in the second trimester, not sure how far u are but there advice was to keep nursing and that will stop it from drying up completely. Gl
