I'm very interested to hear some stories of ladies who've experienced both. I would like to know weather going into labour totally by yourself (as in no induction) is really less painful than when being indused. Details are welcome!! :thumbup:

I was induced at 40 weeks +1 with my first, due to high blood pressure. They broke my water and then started pitocin. Apparently according to the midwife I am extremely sensitive to pitocin and they had to turn it off after a few minutes. And she told me to never let them give it to me again in future labours. Needless to say I was in extreme pain and ended up having an epidural and second degree tears. Our baby boy was posterior as well so that made it worse. He was "stunned" when he came out due to the strong contractions he had to endure- and took a while to take his first breath and cry... Longest few minutes of my entire life. Praise the Lord our boy is healthy and perfectly fine now. But it was definitely a rough start.

We are currently TTC #2 and I would really really love to go into labour by myself his time and have no intervention whatsoever.

Anyone have some good news for me? Will all natural be less painful than induction???
TIA :kiss::kiss:

Hmmmm.....Ds1 born at 40+6 spontaneous labour, started having contractions at 40+4 and was in established labour a VERY long time, he was back to back and after 1.45 hours of pushing I needed intervention and had to have a ventouse delivery! He was 9lb1 tho which probably didn't help! I had gas and air and diamorphone but felt it was horrendous.... DS2 I was induced at 38 weeks and altho it took three days to get to a point that my waters could be broken once that happend I had the drip turned all the way up and after 3 hours he was here, ten mins of pushing! Tbh thought it was a breeze zxx

Wow, you are a superwoman :) -maybe I am just a wuss :(

Thanks for your reply hun. I'm glad your induction went so well.

Xxx

No your not a wuss at all, I just clearly have a big Foof lol! And tbh once you've had one they get easier each time! I'm on my third due in three weeks and this will probably be horrendous lol! If your body doesn't agree with the drip it can over stimulate your uterus which is the worst pain imaginable so I think that's what happened with you xx

Awww thanks so much :flower:
That does sound like what happened to me - so I'm quietly hopeful that this time around it will be better.

Congratulations on pregnancy number 3 - i am sure this labour and delivery will be even better and quicker for you. Xxx

I was inducted with my baby (my first) at 41+1. However, the morning of my induction I was having light but consistent contractions.

Feel free to read my birth story (link in sig) for more detail but the Cervidil (insert) gave me a severely overstimulated uterus. For about 4 hours, I was having one, solid contraction. I was rushed back to L&D after ripping that damn cervidil out (on my bed lol) and even though I wanted a natural hospital birth I ended up having the epi as it was able to slow down my uterus and get me contracting properly. My waters broke with thick meconium, and baby was distressed but she improved.

Of course, it sounds worse than it was. Once the epi was in things were looking up, it was really only the baby in distress that they were worried about and I managed to juuuust skim by without a csection. My placenta was severly infected however.

Im not sure if it was the cervidil that caused baby to be in distress, but it was 100% the cause for my overstimulated uterus. I will never forget that pain. I was at the height of a contraction for 4 solid hours, I was just on the floor screaming. I never needed Pitocin.

I don't mind induction however I will never get cervidil ever again. My doctor told me I did the right thing by ripping it out of me at home, if I hadn't I may have been in real trouble. She had never seen such a case of an overstim she told me.

Wow BabyCleo, thanks so much for sharing your story - I will go read your full birth story as well. I can really relate to the overstimulated uterus - not fun at all to say the least - although it sounds like you really had a very rough time - poor thing. I am just happy to hear you and baby are fine now. Stories like yours make me just realise all over again - that I REALLY don't want any intervention with my second baby. Unless REALLY medically necessary. Thanks again for sharing. Xxx

No problem!! I totally wanted a natural hospital birth, but because of the cervidil that didn't get to happen. Maybe next time :) I never heard bad things about cervidil either, I researched like crazy and was comfortable with it! Apparently im not very lucky lol. xo
