Benefit Help!

Hey

So I've been scouting around on various different sites in regards to benefit entitlements and have used several benefit calculators which seem to bring up a different result every time

Here's my situation... me and my OH currently live with his Mum, but we've found a lovely house for rent and want to move in after Christmas. Thing is I thought I'd be able to claim Housing Benefit to cover my half of the rent but now I've heard that because my partner is working I may not be entitled to anything

He works about 40 hours a week and earns roughly £800 a month - I'm currently not working and I'm claiming JSA. Rent for this house is £495 a month.

If I am unable to claim Housing Benefit, what other benefits *will* I be able to claim and roughly how much will this add upto per week / month? (I do not have any children... yet!)

Can you get job seekers allowance? Are you fit and able to work?

Edited to say: I see you are getting JSA. As you are registered as looking for work (you can't get JSA unless you actively look for work), then you probably won't het HB. You should be able to get some tax credits to top up your OH's income, and if you have children may also be able to get child tax credits.

You wont be able to claim a penny of income support/jsa because your partner works (we were told this when OH moved in last June), you should however get some rent paid. You will also get child tax credits and working tax credits (if you have any children/ are over 25) because your OH works. My partner has a bad back and was getting ESA but because I work 16 hours a week he is no longer allowed any ESA money.

Our rent is £495 a month and we get £98 a week paid x
