Sorry but does anyone know if you work 16 hours a week would you still get income suppport & working tax credits ?

Not sure, sorry! Could you check a benefit calculator online? :flower:

Yeah i have but it confuses me haha ....

Your best bet is to ring up the job centre and ask them. I think you can still claim them but I'm not 100% sure

I know IS used to be for if you were working 16 hours and under and that you could get some WTC with that, but I'm pretty sure a lot of stuff has changed now and is set to change rather soon. I agree that phoning up and asking is your best bet though.

Im not sure you would get both!

having looked at the calculator you have to work LESS than 16 hours to still claim IS, but if you work less than 16 hours you are NOT entitled to WTC (only CTC), if you work OVER 16 hrs, you get WTC & CTC but not IS.

SO its 6 of one and half a dozen of the other really, they both work out the same really....

U will not get is unless u work less than 16 hours and that still depends on how much u earn. If u work 16 hours or more, u will recieve child tax and working tax credits.. they add up to more than income support anyways lol

You can get CTC alongside IS, so you'd still get more with CTC and IS than WTC and CTC.

You have to be working 24 hours to get WTC is it not? xx

I find it impossible to get any useful information from the direct gov website and those caculators are useless

Your best bet is to go to you local council/job cenre/citizens advice bureau and have it all explained to you clearly

It changes all the time, everyone is treated different, it all depends on your situation, so thats why I suggest talking to a professional about YOUR case iykwim xxx

shame that's not true in the way you mean it. There are guidelines that HAVE to be followed hence the need to work 16hrs if your single and 24 if your a couple etc etc, the same as you CANT get IS and WTC together, because one cancels out the other.....Its defiantly worth contacting the JC or the TC people, but they're rules are there for a reason they cant treat cases individually.
