Need to buy slow flowing bottles for when I'm back to work and because I'm thinking of combi-feeding now and then and would like slow flowing bottles.

What brand do you like best and about how much did they cost you?

Thanks in advance.

I've got avent (not the new ones shaped like a nipple) but the older ones. They were on offer in sainsburys (6.50 for 3) so I got 6. I have just started using them two days ago to get my 6 week old baby used to the bottle before he goes to nursery in November (a way away I know but I don't want him to refuse the bottle when the time comes!) and he was absolutely fine, latched straight back onto the nipple afterwards so I think they were slow enough for him?

Not sure whether you can get these in America or not? X

Yeah we have advent here idk about the older style but I've seen advertisement for the newer style..I'll have to check out some other reviews on them. I have medela ones but there not slow flowing and she eats the bottle so fast and then still wants something to suck on so I figured slow flow might help with that and gas.

Have you tried changing just the teats? To a slower flowing one? Or a regulated one that can switch as she sucks? I know we have those here? X

No I'll have to look into that too it would be way easier just buy the nipples instead of the whole bottles and have these extra bottles go to waste. Thanks that's very helpful. Now I just hope we can buy slow flowing nipples alone here in the US. Out the regulated ones those sound fancy.

I did lots of research (lots of looking at reviews and different bf support sites, etc.) and from what I've found the playtex drop-ins are the slowest flow. I bought 2 of them (actually the only 2 bottles I bought, was given a similac bottle but never used it, that thing leaked MASSIVE amounts!) and have found there are moments when you turn the bottle upside down it won't even drip! :)happydance: !!!)

My son became a lazy nurser after using a couple of bottles (stupid nipples would allow milk to just about pour out when tilted upside down!). He finally refused to nurse from me at all so with that and me having to work, I just decided to go to formula  So I've been very, very careful with my daughter. So far so good

:flower: Good Luck!!

Lol my OH almost just bought those drop ins but I told him not until I do research he said something about the package saying there the slowest flow against leading brands or something.

I use lansinoh slow flow nipples in dr brown bottles. I only give a bottle of pumped milk when he cluster feeds over 4 hours and my breasts need a rest.

I really like the Dr. Brown bottles. You can buy nipples in stages 1,2, or 3, for different flows. They work well for reducing gas.

I love Dr. Brown's bottles as well. They never create that suction that happens in regular bottles, so she never has to unlatch or get startled by the sharp "hiss" when a regular bottle draws air back in just as she's drifting off. (Platex drop-ins don't do this either; I don't have any experience with them but my mom swore by them with me and my sister so I think they're good as well). I believe the level one nipples do drip slightly if tilted upside down, but they definitely don't pour like the damn nipples on the bottles in the hospital. I've been EBF and offered Gwen a bottle around 3 weeks ish of expressed; she messed with her latch a little bit at first but got the hang of using both.

I have used the playtex drop ins and have had no problem. He continued to latch on to my breast and latched onto bottle first time. I just got them cause easier to clean and used them in the past.

I have tried BARE (sample, not on the market when I got it), Platex Drop ins with latex nipple, Lansinoh mOmma, Avent Natural and Medela Calma.

BARE: Milk pouring everywhere just trying to tickle his lip
Playtex Drop in: Milk pouring everywhere ticking his lip. When he tried to drink from it (sitting up) he got flooded.
Lansinoh mOmma: Pretty good, first one he would take well, probably reminded him of nipple shield based on shape. He used these for the first two days I worked but would not go back to breast after two days (had to use nipple shields to get him back at all) so we quit those.
AVENT Natural: I put milk in and turned it up to test on arm, milk streamed out, not dripped, STREAMED. I didn't even offer it to him.

Medela Calma: Finally one that didn't flood his mouth (much) and didn't pour milk all over him. He doesn't seem to like it much, but he will drink from it. I am personally glad he doesn't like it THAT much, because he has had no problem going back and forth to breast.
BUT - at $18 per nipple/$20 for bottle with nipple, it's pricey. Really pricey. We have two and my caregiver washes it between uses for his three feedings.

I bought some Dr. Browns glass bottles because I planned to use just the bottle part with the Calma nipples, because I want glass bottles. Then I decided that people seem to really like Dr. Browns, and a really slow flow (preemie) nipple is available, so I went ahead and picked up some preemie nipples and we are going to try Dr. Browns this week. I can get 2 glass bottles with all parts and extra nipples (since I want preemie) for less than the cost of one nipple for the Calma. I hope they work...

ETA: Funny thing is, I have really fast flow boobs. I have overactive let down in one and it literally fire hoses him at first. Sometimes he spits it out and I soak it up with a burp cloth, but sometimes he just chugs it down...but fast flow nipples must be different than fast flow boobs...
