please excuse lack of punctuation and any typos - doing this one handed as baby in other arm.

i'm currently exclusively breastfeeding my little boy, but i sooooo need a break sometimes. we also can't feed in public as his reflux and my strong let-down make it super messy, so i'd like to be able to give a bottle when out. i expressed on sunday and we tried a bottle but he only took about 1oz before going crazy. i want to keep persevering to get him to take a bottle, and would prefer to give him breastmilk in it, but i just can't manage to express in the week when it's just isaac and i at home, so it might need to be formula some of the time. i'm feeling overwhelmed with all the different formulas and bottles out there though, let alone with the procedure for making up bottles, so any recommendations on where to start would be v v gratefully received.

thanks :flower:

aptimal is meant to be the closest to breast milk in terms of its consistency etc, im not sure about it in terms of reflux, whether it is good/bad for that though xx

Ask your doctor for enfamil ar on prescription - its reflux milk with all the nice immune boosting extras. And I use avent bottles! x

Dr. Brown's bottles. I tried avent & TT CTN but Dr. browns r the best. As for formula, My LO is on Aptamil AR but I dont think it's available where u stay. I heard Cow & gate stay down is similar xx

I combi feed and am using Aptamil. My friend's LO has reflux and she has given up breastfeeding and feeds him on Aptamil and although he's still sick, he's not as sick and much more settled.
I use TT CTN Anti-Colic bottles. They were nearly £11 for 2. I hae heard the Dr Brown ones are the best.

definately Dr browns for reflux but not sure how good for combination feeding. The only milk my lo will take is cow and gate comfort. she hated or got bunged up on everything else.

thanks for all the advice, guys. i now have a starting point for my research - makes it a lot less daunting. :flower:

im combi feeding and as above i use Aptamil.

We also use the tommee tippee closer to nature bottles which have been very good x

When I combi fed ollie we used mam bottles, only ones he would take and they also have the anti colic rings, I know a few others who will only use mam bottle too, so with chloe I decided to go with mam again, haven't had any problems yet either. As for milk the only one which agreed with ollie was cow and gate comfort, aptimal was terrible, he was so windy and would not keep any down at all. With chloe we started off on normal cow and gate but it seemed to make her constipated, well we're not 100% sure it was he formula of my breast milk as everytime she ha breast milk she threw that up too, so changed to cow and gate comfort and the constipation has gone but she's throwing up her whole feed, so now going back to normal cow and gate and we'll see how her bowel movements are over the next few days.

I think to be honest I'd choose the milk your most comfortable with but be prepared to change it, it's all trial and error really. And go with the bottles that your happiest with, if you've got a mothercare/ babies r us near you I'd go and have a look at he different bottles.
