Hello everyone,

I want to make sure I get a high chair that's going to be good enough to last but that doesn't cost the earth!

Any recommendations? Or the opposite, any I should stay away from?!

TIA

The cheap Ikea one is pretty good! We got an expensive one to start with and it was a pain - too big, too fancy, too difficult to clean. The Ikea one can be hosed down in the garden or put in the shower - really handy!

We actually have two of these - https://www.mothercare.com/Mothercare-Folding-Booster-Seat--Red/453109,default,pd.html Our 2 and 4 years olds use them at the dining table without the tray. We used them from 6 months with our second LO (after getting rid of the big silly one from our first LO!). They have a few different height settings, they fit on a normal dining chair, they're sturdy and comfortable enough and you can use the tray with them. I like that you can pack them up to take on holiday or round to family's house too, although we rarely bother any more.

We have the fisher price rainforest one. It was expensive, but the tray and straps are dishwasher safe so are spotless after more than a year of use. It's also height adjustable so we can feed him while sitting/standing or remove the tray and bring him right up to the table. It has three back positions so when he was younger we could recline him in his chair after tea for a nap! I'd highly recommend this one and I'll be using it for any more LO's we have.

Thanks ladies! It's so hard to get the right thing isn't it? I bought a swing chair for her the other week and she hates it! I'm keeping it though in hope a future child will like it instead lol!!

A vote for the IKEA antilop here. Cheap, easy to clean and you can get an inflatable insert for smaller babies (my lb is only 13.5lb at 6 months). They find them really easy to sit in too. You could always head to your local IKEA for a cuppa and see how she does.

We had the ikea one for dd1 after reading lots of good things about it. Cheap and easy to clean. Just comes in plain white.

Mothercare have started doing a very similar one but it's available in about 5 different colours. Think it's about £25. I really like the purple one but still have the ikea one so don't actually NEED another one....

I actually would recommend the ASDA one, we picked ours up for around £27 and it is height adjustable, easy to clean, reclines and has a storage basket underneath, and it folds up which was a big must in our tiny house!
