I had an epau scan yesterday at 7weeks 1, baby is ok in the right horn but the left horn is filled with blood and still bleeding. I've been warned i may bleed, which i haven't so far but have had pain. I've not heard of this tjos early only in later pregnancy resulting in pre term labour. Id really appreciate if any of you ladies have been through it an share your experiences.

thanks x

Hi there

I hope that your pregnancy will go just fine.

I also do have a bicornuate uterus which was discovered through an MRI of my lower back. However, I don't have an experience on what you are going through (I don't have kids yet, but hoping to carry and give birth to a baby one day.

I've read some stories from other people with a biocornuate uterus and many seem to carry their babies during pregnancy just fine (your first baby is an example as well and I wish you the same case with your second baby too ;) ). From my previous reading to other women's experiences, some have experienced bleeding at the early stages of their pregnancies (not sure if the bleedings are similar cases of yours). They wrote that it didn't end their pregnancies :)

I wish you the same.

Thank you so much for your reply and well wishes :).

I'm hoping this pregnancy goes like my last in terms of length, if I hadn't of been induced at almost 38 weeks due to pre e I'm sure she'd of stayed put as long as possible. I did bleed a little with her but on yesterday's scan the whole of the horn was filled with the blood, where as with my daughter the other horn was just a vacant space. I've been warned about possible bed rest which is more than a tad difficult with a two year old lol.

Hope everything goes smoothly for you when your time comes :) x

Lau88, I had what the u/s tech said as "pooled blood." (Poor choice of words to a first time mom) I was not diagnosed with a BU until after delivery, but my ob later told me it was more than likely blood in one of the horns that caused the bleeding. I bled bright red blood, worse than a period for about 10 min, then nothing. The blood was out and I was put on bed rest for 2 weeks so they could monitor me, but I was fine, and so was baby!

My husband took me to the er (about 10 weeks) when this happened and the u/s showed baby was perfectly healthy- and the "pooled blood" was gone. I'm not sure why they didn't catch my BU at that time, but they are taking every precaution they can with my current pregnancy.

I hope that helps(: Best wishes to you and baby!! btw, you went all the way to 38 weeks, and you're giving me hope. My son was born at 33 weeks.

Hi willsmommy, congratulations on your pregnancy. I had my re scan on Tuesday, still blood there but baby was happy in the other horn. I've had some bleeding since but was more like bloody cervical mucus, although I've been warned to expect more. I was told there's a couple little clots there too which does add to the worry. I'm glad you've got some hope from my daughter :), she'd have stayed put if it wasn't for the pre e, quite a shock when I was warned she was likely to arrive a lot earlier and not expect a baby at the end of it. Our gp has called her a miracle due to lots of issues, so I just wonder and hope to be that lucky a second time around. x
