big AND small, can't be both!

Urgh it annoys me when people insist on commenting on how big/small you are

Was my Nanas birthday so we had a family get together and buffet, so lots of family I haven't seen for ages, all commenting on how small / neat my buml was and couldn't beleive I was due in 11 days (my aunts husband didn't even know I was expecting and had to ask if I was pregnant )

Then on the way home we popped into MILs and his sister was there from uni and just went wow Sarah, you're huge (yeh cheers, make me feel great ) and just said well I am due in 11 days, I'm not going to be flipping tiny, and said I'm not 'huge' just quite average, if not on the smaller side from the fundal height chart. She was like oh god can't imagine how big huge is then. So I said well have you actually seen pregnant people?! She was like the my aunts (maybe when she was like 7!!) so she has t got any one to compare too anywh, and MIL and the two SILS are very petite people (I wasn't very to begin with at size 12 I was just a nice healthy size)

So yeh, people who have actually been pregnant and around lots of pregnant people telling me I'm rather small, and SIL saying I'm huge, who hasn't seen a great deal of pregnant people, and hasn't been pregnant!

Just like I don't feel fat ugly bloated and fed up enough!!

I think you have a lovely little bump. Mine is pretty much the same size and I still have nearly 5 weeks to go .

Just dropped my son at nursery and two of the ladies were like 'wow your huge now where has that come from' and another was like 'you're tiny, if you didn't know you were pregnant you wouldn't be able to tell' hmm so I just look fat then?!

My mum and best friend also said how big i'd got.. I thought I was just right but hey what do I know?! xxx

I can't believe someone actually had to ask you if you're pregnant! I mean, yeah you're not huuuuge like the other person was saying, but it's very clear that you're pregnant! (just re-read your post and noticed it was a man who asked... so I take all that back! - My dad said to me at 26 weeks when I was still being sick "you must be over your 12 weeks now surely, no?" Doh!! Lol).
I have one member of my family (OH's SIL) who is forever telling me my bump is tiny (the other night she said it was "getting smaller by the day"... erm okaaaaay then! Lol). She comments on my photos on FB saying that my bump has "disappeared" etc and my sister has started to get more annoyed about it than me.. everytime SIL does it now my sister comments on how big I'm getting! Lol she is convinced SIL is just saying it to make me feel bad. x

Yeh men, explains it all!!

She also then said she's gonna be a big baby, Riley was 7'12, so that's pretty average, (she then said like 6lbs was average) and not that a big bump means a big baby either!

It does my head in as well! You feel like you have to justify yourself either way! Plus if you weren't pregnant people would never say "wow you've put on weight" but when your pregnant it seems to give people the oppourtunity to say whatever they want about your size

My friend (who has never been pregnant or been round many pregnant women) said i was big for how far along i was at about 27 weeks. But everyone else is surprised at how far along i am :L I just think my friend doesn't really know what she's on about

People just shouldn't say anything about bump sizes, cos it doesn't matter :L

Frustrates me too, tends to be the people that havent seen me in ages that say I am huge. But was buying some clothes in New Look on saturday and the girl on the till asked how long I had left. I told her and she said, the same as her manager and I was small like her too. I liked this and decided that I will remember this comment going forward rather than the huge ones! Yes I am much bigger than I was, but thats because I have a baby, placenta etc etc strapped to the front of me! lol x

yes, it's like.. I've a fully grown baby in there.. What do you expect really?? Just comments annoy me when people really don't know what they're talking about!

Oh my god, I know the feeling!!!
It pisses me off so much, one of my friends came round and told me I was tiny!?! Others say I am TOO big and I must have a massive baby.
Er....since when did you know anything about pregnancy? Most of my friends don't know many pregnant people so I don't understand where they get their information from. Ugh pisses me off.

I think you have a beautiful bump and to be honest i don't know how people can comment on size- your bump looks like it starts quite high up to me so but that's just comparing it to my own. Are you measuring ok? I think sometimes people love to comment and feel involved, they don't realise how annoying, hurtful or worrying some of their comments/phrasing can be.

Yeh on my fundal height chart there's three lines, my measurement is usually plotted on or just bellow the middle one, so must be pretty average! and heh she's a really high up bump, fed up of my boobs/bump merging together, I'd like a shelf to carry my boobs on

I'm sooooo irritated with this too!! Why do people feel like they even have to comment?!!! I've been told by various people that I look small, even neat, but there's one mum I know who always feels the need to compare my bump's size day in day out. It's always "My God, you're massive today!" or "you were bigger yesterday!" She even told me that I was the size she was at term when I was 28 weeks! (Yeah thanks for that!) Grrrrr... and further rant.....my Dad asked if I'd had my blood pressure checked recently as he said I was looking 'puffy!" WTF!!!! I do not look puffy thanks, and my BP's fine!!
