I was told at the 26w scan baby was big. 97 percentile. I have my regular OB and a specialist OB. Specialist said that babies can grown in spurts. So possibly the percentile will change. He said its best to be cautious tho and start eating differently. He said use the Atkins diet. I read up in GD myself. No sugar, no white bread, no bananas (high sugar who knew?) and limited potatoes. Any carb needs to be eaten with a protein. The main goal of the diet is protein and vegetables. Limit everything else. And excersize every day.
So I've been doing that. Back then they sent me for the gluclose test. I failed the 1 hour, passed the 3 hour.
Then I had a 28 week scan. Baby was now 92 percentile. Specialist said babies at 92% when born are between 8 and 9 lbs. He said I'm trending the right direction.
My OB sent me for another 3 hour and I passed that again. She is still concerned about size tho so she scheduled me for a Csection?? I made he put it a week after my due date. I think she's overly concerned personally...
The worry for GD babies is in later pregnancy some hormone does not let your body get rid of the sugar properly, so baby gets more. This makes baby add weight but specifically to the head and shoulders. Shoulders are the big concern during natural birth.
Specialist said many women can control it with diet and excersize.
So it could be GD, or growth spurt for you. I'm eating the GD way anyway since its healthier and they made me paranoid..
