Birth control pills

I know I have cyst, I've diagnosed several times with cyst. I have also been trying to conceive, my doctor called in birth control for me to try for 3 months till my yearly exam. Is that a Normal protocol? I know I got pregnant quickly the first time awhile back, when I went off birth control!

My doctor initially thought I had low estrogen and suggested going on the pill for 3 months to help regulate it but I declined. Turns out that is not my issue.
