well ladies, it finally happened! i had my baby BOY at 42 weeks exactly on the 16th at 3:36am!! He weighed 8lbs13oz (BIG BOY!) and is 58cm long!

i went in for my induction at 3 oclock on the 14th, and was given Prostin(?) at around 5oclock, which gradually over the night gave me irregular mild contractions, then throughout the early hours of the morning i began to have painful irregular contractions ranging from about every ten minutes to every two minutes lasting a minute, but the midwife checked me and i was only 1cm dilated at 2am. the only pain relief i could have was cocodamol and it didnt touch the pain in the slightest, i must admit i got a bit hysterical a few times and only got about an hour of sleep, then woke up at 6am with even worse contractions, still irregular. i carried on with my contractions throughout the day, still only being given cocodamol when i was crying and begging for something else to take the pain away, and told to take hot baths etc etc, none of which did me any good. my mum and sister came to visit me on the ward for a couple of hours, then they went at around three oclock. almost immediately after the contractions got even worse and i was crying and screaming in pain, which must have finally made the midwives contact the delivery suite and a midwife came up and caught me bent over the bed gripping the sheets sobbing through a contraction, so she said she'd examine me and see if i'd made any progress, WHICH I HAD :happydance:! i was 2cm dilated and fully effaced, so she said she'd go and call down to delivery suite to see if i could go down and hopefully get some better pain relief, and ten minutes later, she came back with the news that i could go down and they would give me pethidine! i literally got tears in my eyes and said "am i really allowed?!?! thank you so much!!" :haha:.
I got into a private delivery room at around half 4 and given pethidine injection in my leg and was told to ring my birth partners (mum and OH), and they got there at about half 5. i was left to labour for a while to try and dilate a little more, then was moved to a different room with a bath for a little more pain relief because i wasnt 4cms yet, they couldnt give me any more pethidine. i was then told that if i wasnt 4cms by 8oclock then they would break my waters :happydance:! it came to 8 oclock and i was 3cms but stretchy to a 4, and they broke my waters, which INSTANTLY made my contractions 1000000000000X worse, i was crying and writhing around and screaming with every contraction, i couldnt use my gas and air through the contractions because i just couldnt control my body or my breathing :(! OH and my mum got really upset and OH started crying from seeing me in that much pain.. then babys heart rate started dipping which was horrible, so they stuck a trace on his head and had me rolling around into different positions to try and help him but it was just getting worse :(! apparently i was coming out with some quite funny things such as "GET ME A FUCKING EPIDURAL NOW!! GIVE ME A C-SECTION! GET THIS BABY OUT! I CANT DO IT!!" then afterwards i said " OH MY GOD! that was so cliche!! i never thought i'd say the things that they say on One Born Every Minute, PULL YOURSELF TOGETHER WOMAN!" :dohh:.
I then got moved back to the original delivery room i was in to be given an epidural and start the syntocin(sp?) and i grabbed the midwife and made her swear that she wouldnt give me the syntocin(sp?) to make my contractions worsen until the epidural was working, haha! poor woman, she was lovely aswell :(!
i got the epidural which i must say was HEAVEN!! and got started with the syntocin(sp?) which instantly made things go from bad to worse.. my heart rate started rocketing and had everyone rushing around saying i was Tachicardic(sp?) which meant that my heart rate was resting at above 100 and they were putting these sticky monitors all over my chest, feet and hands to monitor my heart and had OH and my mum crying, apparently they thought that they were gonna lose both me and the baby because he wasnt coping with the contractions either. the midwife was going through all the drugs that i had been given and everything that had happened and they couldnt find the reason that my heart was going the way it was, and i had a whole medical team in the room with me. i was told that i was 10cm at 2am and they said after an hour i would be ready to push, so at 3am i started pushing and they had to give me an episiotomy and ventouse to get my little boy out.
he didnt seem to be breathing properly when he first came out and he was rushed over to the rescusitating table and they worked for about ten minutes to get him to cry.. he finally did a big scream when they gave him his vitamin K injection :happydance:! he scored 6 on his APGAR at 1 minute, then 10 at 5 minutes and 10 again at 10 minutes thankfully.
it was a scary ordeal and im still in quite a bit of pain from my episiotomy(sp?) but honestly, i would do it all over again for my little man, im so in love, its unbeleivable!! ive had everybody telling me how beautiful and perfect he is, how alert he is for a newborn and what a lovely colour he has :)! it makes me so proud to be honest, ill post some pictures below. the first one is me and Joshua just after giving birth, the second one is me and Joshua later on in the day, the third one is me, OH and Joshua when we finally came home, the fourth one is OH and Joshua gazing at each other and the fifth one is Joshua being very sleepy:cloud9::cloud9::cloud9: xxxxx
