I was admitted to my local hospital on Wednesday night with high bp and +3 proteins in my urine at 39 weeks and 3 days.
I was then sent to the city hospital the next morning where my bp kept rising and they started talking about possible induction which scared the life out of me.
I was examined and assessed and they debated over me for HOURS... But they finally decided to start the induction process at 5pm that night, with gel.
They said the chances of something actually happening fist go were slim since my cervic was still long and thick and pointing backward.
I just happened to be lucky or unlucky whichever way you chose to look at it, and started have contractions immediately. I was put on the ctg machine to monitor baby girl and my contractions.. which apparently according to the machine weren't happening.
By 11 pm I was having contractions every 3 minutes that lasted 2 minutes. They were very very strong and I was NOT coping. Was an absolute mess and couldn't do anything but cry. But they finally decidied ti move me to L&D. I was checked, cervix was thinned and i was only 3cms dilated.
I started having gas and air, but it didn't even take the edge off. They offered me morphine and pethedine but recommended against it. I took a hot shower instead which helped SO much with the pain... Until my waters broke. The pain increased 10 fold and I was crying again. The midwife kept trying to move me to the bed.. and i kept shouting that I needed a poo lol.
She finially got me back to the bed (i didn't need to poo after all) and my contractions started coming harder and faster and I'd still had no pain relief.. I was not coping at all and was in terrible shape and to make matters worse I was made lay on my back with monitors all over.
They finally talked me into having an epidural... I never wanted one...
And then some how went magically from 4cns to 9cms and pushing within 10 minutes before I had the chance to have any kind of drug!
I pushed for hours I think... I'm not sure... But couldn't couldn't deliver her quick enough on my own so she was delivered all in one go with forceps... They almost didn't catch her!
She arrived at 4.37 am, on March 2nd, weighing 5.9 pounds (NOT kilos).
She is just incredible and more beautiful than I'd have ever though a baby can be!
She's not breadtfeeding.. but I think she's still exhausted from the birth, and luckily I have enough colostrum to express until she becomes interested in the breast..
I haven't slept since Wednesday and its now after 10pm on Friday.
Good night ladies! Much love
