birthing ball..to bounce or not to bounce?

When picking a size just think about your pelvis. You are using it and gravity is helping you. You want to be able to bed squatted a bit but if your knees are higher than 90 degrees its too big. Mines the 70 something inch ball because my legs are over three feet long (I'm 6 foot) so its comfortable for me. Anything smaller and my knees would be too high. Apparently you also want to be able to keep your feet flat on the floor because if they aren't during labor you'll find your calfs start to get too tired. I plan to use it to hold baby too. They like movement and I can roll the ball up against the couch so it doesn't wiggle away and bounce baby I'm sure that'll be just as good as standing and bouncing but less energy from me to bounce them.

I found it usefull from about 28 weeks to sit comfortably on when I was having severe rib pain. I did a little bouncing but not regular bouncing and so far I have had no "ball"related issues.

If in doubt ask your midwife
