biting

Darragh keeps biting me, unintentionally, but it really hurts! I try to ignore it but occasionally I do a sharp intake of breath because it's so sore and it makes him cry =(
He's already given me an infection from breaking the skin a few weeks ago, is there any way I can stop him doing this??

Does it happen in the middle of feed, or when he is about done or when falling asleep? In the middle of feed you can detach him and tell him no and or set him down after saying no. If its at the end of a feed you can detach him when you notice he is stopping so that he doesn't do it. You may just have to watch for signs that it is about to happen and stop him as soon as you see it coming.

it tends to be worse when he is sleepy. He's a hideous sleeper, and has been getting worse the past ten days or so, so I've been trying to battle through it in the hope he doesn't wake up any worse than he already has!
I've tried saying no to him but again, he cries. I know on that count I have to toughen up haha, because he;ll hear the word no plenty in life.

I am in exactly the same boat and our little ones are a similar age, it's awful! I can sometimes catch him when he is about to do it as he pulls back and grins but sometimes he takes me by surprise and has made me yelp in pain. I have tried saying no firmly and ending the feed, putting him down, and he cries, but it doesn't stop him doing it again. I have no answers, only sympathy!

Haha just realised from the ticker, our babies are exactly the same age! Must be a phase?

Also, just noticed you say yours does it unintentionally. Mine knows exactly what he's doing and finds it really funny...

My LO is much younger so no teeth...yet. I've noticed she does it when she gets sudden tummy pain.

He's still at it. I think it's more a constant grating than an actual bite, but i've ANOTHER infection in my areola =(
I'm quite worried about having to take more antibiotics with being in 1st try with number two, and if it's going to keep happening, I'm starting to think I might have to stop BFing. Has anyone any experience of this and how to manage it. I really wanted to make it to a year at least and I'm so close

reading with interest as my LO does this too.
it really hurts!!
she has 5 teeth and they are soo sharp. she's also broken the skin on my nipple and its been bruised afterwars but no infection luckily.
my LO grins at me when she's done it, although I have tried not to react because I think then it makes it a game.

you have all my sympathies!!
