Bleeding after BM

I'm quite constipated and just had a BM where I was straining quite a bit. Sorry TMI- anyways when I wiped, there was a bit of blood mixed with CM. I'm soo worried - I've never had this with my other pregnancies. Is this normal??

It can be normal, but it can also be bad. I hate saying that simply based on my experience alone, but you asked and our answers aren't always positive. How much was there?
Hang in there. It could be a one time thing. Drink some prune juice to help with the constipation. Your cervix could just be irritated from the straining. Stress won't help.

My doctor told me it is common- especially if you are supplementing with vaginal progesterone. The suppositories irritate the cervex and the progesterone constipates you. She put me on pelvic rest: no straining for bowel movements, no sex, no lifting. She told me to take Colace- a stool softener. My pregnancy, unfortunately, just terminated at 9 weeks. My sister-in-law had the exact same symptom when she was pregnant. Everything was fine. My nephew is now almost 2 years old. Her best friend bled off an on throughout the entire pregnancy and has a beautiful daughter. Call the doctor and go get checked. Every case is unique. I will be praying for you both.

Oh awful. TMI too, but I had the same thing at 11 weeks. No certain if the bleeding was related or not. Big red bleed that stopped immediately and turned to light brown blood for a couple days. I went to the doctor, he ordered a scan just in case. It turned out fine - the ultrasound didn't reveal any source of the blood and LO was oblivious.

Personally, I was never on progesterone, so that's not the cause for me!

While chances are it's nothing for you just like me, I strongly recommend seeing your doctor for any bleed. If nothing else, it can give you reassurance, but they can also diagnose problems like a subchorionic bleed, for which they can give treatment.

Thanks ladies. I go see the doctor on Thursday and have another scan. The bleeding was really just an isolated incident, one streak of blood mixed with CM. I haven't had any bleeding or cramping at all. I'm hoping it's just from an irriated cervix. Needless to say, I'm eating prunes and fibre bars like crazy!!

If it was an isolated incident, I really wouldn't worry. Mine was certainly not isolated.

Anyway... I am always afraid to be too truthful here, because I am not a doctor and don't want to scare anyone away. I just have my own experience to go on. I hope my post before wasn't upsetting. xo

That's why I like posting in this forum! Everyone has experience, and everyone is honest. If I had posted this question in the First Trimester forum, I would have gotten a totally different answer!
