My ds has cradle cap and I've read that we should rub some oil into his scalp then wash it with shampoo daily. so I've been doing that.

yesterday it didn't seem like there was a lot but I still did the same ritual. today there is a little blood in his forehead and I would have assumed he scratched himself except even in the spots further from his forehead there is a little bit of bleeding, too...

is this normal?

My ds2 had the worst cradle cap that I've ever seen (my hv insisted she'd seen much worse though) and that ended up bleeding. His skin was just so sensitive that the slightest of touches broke it and it bled. Which oil have you been using? I tried loads and then used coconut oil and it cleared up within 3 days, it genuinely was like s miracle

I don't have experience with cradle cap - but I wanted to second coconut oil to try. I use it for anything and everything, and its very wonderful. :)

You should probably take Lo to be checked over as cradle cap can become infected. It's likely to just be irritation but I think I'd get it looked at.

When my daughter had cradle cap I used olive oil.left it a bit and used a damp flannel in circular motion gently on her head.then washed her hair and it never came back! Also be careful what shampoo you use as the build up cam make cradle cap worse
