Let me give you a little back story before I explain..

I am 23 and currently pregnant for a second time. I carried my daughter full term and was induced at 40w2d. She is completely healthy and I only had one problem with her during my pregnancy. She was a twin and I lost the twin at 12 weeks and was put on bed-rest. The twin never developed, there was just an extra sac on the ultra sounds. I had light bleeding but nothing more serious than that. I was on bed-rest for 2 weeks and after that I was fine and had no more issues.

Right now I am 16w6d pregnant with my second child. At 12 weeks I woke up one morning to pee and the toilet was filled with blood. My husband took me to the ER and they did a sonogram. The baby's HR was 148 and he/she was moving around a little bit in there. So that put my mind at ease. They told me that I had a subchronic bleed underneath my placenta and that it could potentially detach and I would lose the baby. So I was placed on bed-rest again. I met with my DR the day after my trip to the ER and he told me to stay on bed-rest for 2 weeks and then we will get a follow up sono to see the progress. The bleeding subsided after a week on bed-rest. Right before I reached 14w I started bleeding yet again. It was dark brown this time. The doctor told me that it was probably the bleed passing through and that I should be ok and to just make sure that I get that ultrasound in a few days. I got it at 14w5d and it took them a week & a half to get the results to my doctor. When he finally got the results he didnt check them because he was on vacation. Can't fault him for that.

A days ago when I was 16w5d I woke up to heavy bleeding again. My husband took me to the ER again and they sent me home and told me to "just go get a sonogram" Needless to say I am filing a complaint with them for how the treated my husband and I while there. I left there and went and got a ultrasound a few hours later (had to make an appointment, it was a Friday) and they were told to STAT my results to the doctor, on call for my dr since he was on vaca until today actually, as soon as I left. Well I never received a phone call to explain anything. Come Satuday I was still bleeding and very crampy. So I went to Sinai (a hospital in Baltimore, MD where my dr also practices) and they told me that they think I still have a subchronic bleed somewhere under the Ges Sac that is going to continue to bleed due to the pressure the baby is putting on it from growing. The baby is happy and healthy still inside with a HR of 170.

Today is Monday and I am still bleeding. I have an appt with my doctor tomorrow at 1:15 to see what he wants me to do.

Have any other moms had this happen to them? All this bleeding? Any advice?

Hi!

This feels a little like fate! I hardly ever use a website like this but I just came on here to see if anyone had this and here you are! I am also 23 and pregnant with my second too .... :)

I am 16w4d pregnant and been bleeding on and off since 10 weeks. I have been put on bed rest for the next 8 weeks until the baby is viable. Somehow I don't see them letting me go back to work after that even if things do look better.

I am so sorry that you are having so many difficulties. This is such a huge worry. Just know that there is somebody over the pond who feels like you do too! and freakily similar ...

All I can say is rest as much as you can. Put your feet up/lie in bed. I'm not allowed to lift anything or stand/walk for too long. Not really supposed to leave the house. Please let me know how you get on! :hugs: xx

WOW! Talk about fate! Thank you for replying. I am glad someone else out there is feeling how I am with things. I have an 18month old daughter now and my husband works 6 days a week, so taking it easy isn't really in my vocabulary right now - lol. But I rest when I can and my husband helps out tremendously when he is home. I have a doctors appointment tomorrow so hopefully I will get some more answers

PS - I have never used this group either and that was my first post! :p

Yay for fate! :flower:

I have a 14 month old but luckily my husband works from home. Its tough and I probably still don't rest as much as I should do but I guess its the only thing that I feel like I can do. I don't have any more scans booked at the moment. They have just left it that they will check me when I next bleed :( not really looking forward to that day.

Good luck for your appointment for tomorrow. Do let me know what they say :) fingers crossed xx

Will do! We have our 20 week scheduled already for 3 weeks from now, so we are looking forward to that! :)

any update on your scan results? still bleeding or did it stop?
i was just in ER last for passing small clot and pink spotting. the ER scan showed nothing. then 4 days later i started spotting bright red blood. went to clinic and had another scan. i'm told i have a small tear in my placenta with active bleeding. there was a pool of blood around the tear. dr told me that it may or may not heal. i basically have a 50/50 chance of baby making it. i am so terrified! dr told me to take it easy as possible and no work for now. also, no exercise, lifting or sex. i have put myself on modified bedrest until my next scan, which is not until i'm 20 weeks, unless dr changes his mind. i do have a 2 year old so it will not be realistic to do complete bedrest, but i can at least lay on the couch for much of the time. how are you both doing?

Hi Moter.

I am so sorry. I know that this is a terrifying. The only advice is rest and hopefully things will settle down and heal. Get your gp on side and make sure they sign you off from work if that will help. The reg told me that until 24 weeks (and the baby is viable) there is nothing they can really do. Horrible thought but my gp signed me off till then.

On a positive note, since I have been off I have had no more bleeding and feel a lot less pressured :)

How are you doing now? In a non-creepy way - my thoughts are with you xx

Thanks! I have no plans to go back to work until I have a scan showing what is goin on in there. Just been taking it really easy. Ds has been with family since Thursday so I can rest. He comes home today so I will be able to do modified bed rest. My next scan isn't until 20 weeks which is still so far away! Oct 3rd its scheduled for. Scary stuff just laying around waiting to find out which way this is gonna go. Hope we all have happy outcomes! Keep me updated on your progress. Would love to know how it goes for you.

Will do :)

Your doing the best you can :) so feet up, get someone else to do the cooking and watch something that you like for a change! I'm fed up with kiddy programmes lol.

Let me know how it goes with you too x

hi i just wanted to offer some support to you both i have been on bed rest (although i have 4 kids under 7 so not complete) since 15 weeks (i bleed for 7 weeks not heavy but steady) cause of a tear to my placenta it also covers my cervix and even though it has been driving me completely insane to do nothing really my tear has healed and my little girl is happy as ever in there still... I will say to listen to your doctor about not picking your kids up though as my DD before this 1.. was born at 26 weeks casue i didn't listen to my doctors (same placenta problems as this 1) and thought picking my 2 boys up didn't count as they weren't heavy well apparently at the ages of 14 months and 26 months they were heavy enough to push me into labor... and although my DD is now a happy and healthy 4 year old with no problems having her so early was the worst experience of my life something i wouldn't even wish on my worst enemy... Anyway just wanted to give you some reassurance that placenta tears and so on can heal so take it easy and i hope everything works out well for you... I might add that as of 24 weeks they took me off bed rest and i'm just not aloud to lift things or have sex or do any exercise :) And so far so good no more blood... sorry if it doesn't make sense i tend to ramble and kinda mix topics lol

Thanks for sharing your story. Gives me hope. So gld to hear of happy endings! I will be sure not to pick up ds.

Hi Babybee!

Thanks so much for the warning. I have started to pick up my son more because I just want to hold him and it's so hard when he cries. I will be a lot more careful now. I'm so glad that it did work out all ok in the end for you though :) xx

Just got home from the dr. First thing he says to me is "you look tired". you think? i've only been stressing and worrying for a week lol! went well though. dr. said i'm doing the right thing being on bedrest and then doing modified bedrest after that. he could not tell me the size of the tear, but i do know now that there wasn't a clot (good), it is a small tear and blood around it. he said good news is that the placenta is so big relative to the tear. he also said it's good news that i've not been bleeding. he said that it is not normal at all to have bleeding in second tri, but as of now, things are looking good. AND, i asked for a scan next week and he said that's a good idea! someone from ultrasound will be calling me to set up a time for next week. i am so relieved. he was very nice today and back to the dr i always liked. feel much more optimistic now.

Yay Moter!

Glad your feeling positive and things are looking good :) Keep us updated! It helps keep me sane :) X

haha! have my scan tomorrow. i will update after.....hopefully with great news!

dr said no blood in uterus and the tear is healed!! he says everything looks normal. i'm on modified bed rest till 20 week scan. if no bleeding and everything still looks normal at that scan, then he may lift some restrictions. so relieved.

Glad everythin went well for you the body is an amazing thing

Yay fab! I had a scan today but the sonographer said that she couldn't see anything but I swear that I saw it where it always was. I've booked myself a private scan for 2 days time. I don't want to take the risk that I tell my gp everything is fine and gone when its still there. If the second scan says that it really has gone then I will relax. Can't work out if i'm paranoid or cautious. Oh well. As a mum you swing from one to the other most of the time :) xxx

that's great news that tech couldn't see anything on scan! did the dr review the pics too? my scan tech also told me she saw nothing. i didn't believe her either till i talked to the dr. i bet it has reabsorbed for you too. my dr basically said that the ones he worried about are the chronic bleeders with the blood in uterus growing. those are the ones that usually go early he said. so no bleeding and not seeing anything on that scan is VERY good news!
