blighted ovum?

What were your experiences? I had a scan at 5+3 and we only seen a gestational sac after having a few losses I'm convinced that this is going to turn out to be a blighted ovum. I know when I ovulated so my dates can only be off by a day or so depending on how long ovulation took any insight would be greatly appreciated!

5+3 is way too early to be worrying about it, I know it's hard not to but that is extremely early in pregnancy. I'm not surprised that all your saw was a sac. All I saw was a sac at 6+3 with my daughter and she's fine!

I agree. 5+3 is very early to see anything other than a sac. At that stage of a pregnancy, even being off by "a day or so" can be a big deal. One day can be the difference between seeing nothing and seeing a fetal pole and/or a HB. I see your ticker says you're 7+1 now. Are you going to have another early scan to see if they can see anything at this point?

I have a scan in about an hour so I am just anxious for now I will update when I get back.

Just had a scan and everything is great baby is measuring exactly where I thought baby would be and a good heart best thank you for your encouragement

I am roughly around 5 weeks maybe a few days after as I don't know when I ovulated. I thought I was 6 weeks when I had my scan but my doctor told me I was too early. We saw a tiny yolk sac which is why I think I'm just a few days after five weeks. I had a blighted ovum with my last pregnancy and because I was measuring behind I asked her I'd it was a blighted ovum and she said it's waaay to eat to tell. So much happens between 5 and 8 weeks. That's when she would have me diagnosed

Some can see the flicker of heart beating but most do not so wait another 2 weeks (at least)before saying anything like a blighted ovum.

I had a scan at 6 weeks according to lmp - all I saw was a sac that measured maybe a day or so behind. 6 days later, so 6+6, I had another scan and we saw a baby, yolk sac and heartbeat - all measuring perfectly... very stressful 6 days waiting! I wouldn't have a scan that early again

Oh this thread is so reassuring! I hate those early scans too. My RE doesn't even do them except that my left tube was 'indeterminate' in my saline-sono so I ended up having an early one yesterday (5w4d) to rule out ectopic. Even though they warned me the only point of the scan was to locate the sac in the uterus and that was pretty much it I'm still gonna fret that we couldn't find the fetal pole or hb yet.

I spent the whole scan having the tech tsk and tell me off (gently) for worrying and assuming the worst. Well.....it's kind of hard not to after a few losses, sheeeeesh. PAL is just psychologically SO hard, I didn't expect how difficult this was going to be.
