Hi,

This is my first month on Clomid but last month around Day 21 I was referred for all sorts of wierd and wonderful blood tests. I phoned up the Docs for my results and all they said was everything has come back fine, but I wanted to know for myself so I asked that they let me have all the test results.

The progesterone came back at 11.8 at luteal phase which I've read is good. So does this mean I'm ovulating as normal and don't really need Clomid??

I think they say it has to be over 15 to indicate ovulation. Could be wrong, though...

I've heard they prefer the levels to be around 15-30. That might be why they put you on Clomid. Did you have blood tests while on Clomid yet?

I had them today CD23 although I'm certain I ovulated on CD14 so does this matter or should I have really gone on CD21?

Progesterone (P4) 7 dpo > 15 ng/ml A progesterone test is done to confirm ovulation. When a follicle releases its egg, it becomes what is called a corpus luteum and produces progesterone. A level over 5 probably indicates some form of ovulation, but most doctors want to see a level over 10 on a natural cycle, and a level over 15 on a medicated cycle. There is no mid-luteal level that predicts pregnancy. Some say the test may be more accurate if done first thing in the morning after fasting.

My day 21 progesterone was 15, I was told it was low and that they would exect a normal to be around 35...

Wow that's high, I read somewhere that they would expect that level when your actually pregnant?

There is so much conflicting information isn't there.

Check out this website, it's pretty good.

I was told that by my practice nurse after speaking with the GP, I was also given the opinion that if my levels hadn't improved by November (when my year TTC is up) that I would be referred on for further opinions... so it does seem very strange... hhmmm, I think I will still start taking B6 anyway as it cannot do much harm... i think...

What does B6 do?

That's quite a relief actually, I thought I might have been on Clomid when I didn't need to be. Do you also know how long it takes for Day 21 tests to come back?

Thank you for your advice.

helps somewhere with increasing progesterone apparently... I stumbled across another thread yesterday... it was fairly recent.. I think I posted in it... will try and get the link but am crap at that sort of stuff so its probably easier for u to go through my post history...

hang on :)

I'm not sure how to do that. I've not been on here long.

It's great though and so addictive. It's so nice to hear so many encouraging and inspiring stories.

Dunno whether it'll (^^)work

I think my day 21 took about 10 days to get back to the surgery, I phoned to check and was told that they were okand didn't need to see anyone by the receptionist, fortunately I had already agreed to see the nurse again for feedback. Apparently, if u are 'standard' ie within the year of TTC they are normal, hence the receptionists advice (:haha:), but not wuite so normal with my history. I will have day 5 and 21 bloods taken again in November

Go into my profile pages and then onto the stats tab I think, i only found out through playing!!
I know, it is very addictive but highly reassuring, sometimes :haha:
I guess each area will have its own system of working...

Anything is worth a try I guess and it can't hurt can it.

That's quite a while for the results to come back isn't it. I thought it would only take a couple of days....silly me!!

in regards to the prog test numbers, its 15+ ng/ml (US measurement) or 30+ nmol/ml (UK measurement). Obviously when asking for results, they should be able to tell you what the unit of measurement used was :) hope this helps.

in regards to prog level if you're pregnant, mine was 94.2 nmol/ml

Mine Progesterone levels were a 70 at 7dpo and I was told this was fantastic and I was for sure Ov'ing!

Ahh, that makes sense, I do try and use uk websites when looking for info like that, but sometimes it is difficult....

Thats good Kelly, I guess makes things a bit more possible :hugs:

As far as my FS has said progesterone at CD21 (or other relevant day 7dpo) should be around the 30+ mark to show definite O.
But it should be at 7dpo, so being 2 days out may have effected your results if you O'd CD14

i was told by my gp that 30 is preferable, my first day 21 test was 9, and i was sent for a second test
