Blood Type and Labor Correlation??

So a few weeks ago at my regular check-up, I was explaining to my OB that I have always been terrified of having a quick labor and delivery and not being able to make it in the hospital in time for an epidural. (I know many, many women are anti-epidural, but its really the only way I can pretend to feel like I can be ok with delivering a baby... even though I don't have much of a choice at this point.) Both my mother and sister had incredibly quick labor and delivery, within in 3-4 hours start to finish I believe. So my OB told me that I have A- blood type and that there have been studies recently that may show a relationship between A- and fast L&D... Has anyone else heard of this or does this sound totally crazy? Also, with the other women in my family having this quick experience, I was wondering how much of a genetic basis there is for this?

I know everyone is different. I'm just curious and thought I'd see if anyone else had heard of a link... Thanks ladies!

i have A and don't have that "problem" if you choose to call it one.

Never heard of that before but my mum, sister and me were all under 5 hours. (I'm B+).

22 hours for me and B-.... xx

Never heard of that. My Mum had fairly quick labors and mine weren't that long either but we both have O+.

Mum is A- & she had straight forward relatively fast 4 deliveries. I'm also A- but I didnt go into labour after my water broke, I had 3 inductions but i didnt get any contractions or dilation past 1 cm. I ended up with EMCS after 18 hours. So mine wasnt fast or straight forward.

I'm O+ and my labour was 6.5 hours xx

That's an interesting theory!

I'm A+ and my labour was 12.5 hours very start to very finish :flower:
