I topped up electric meter last Wednesday and since then we've used £25  I wouldn't mind but the kids and I were away from Friday afternoon until Sunday evening and DH was out all day Saturday :dohh:

Are you all electric running on storage heaters? If so I can believe it. We lived with those evil things for years :growlmad:

Wow! We use £17 a week and thats with two washes a day and one tumble dry a day!

No :haha: we have gas central heating too! It's crazy  I'm thinking DH has had the electric fire on constantly, next time I leave him I'll leave him with bare minimum and plenty of blankets and jumpers

I did wonder if I'd thrashed the washing machine and tumble dryer but I haven't so it must be the hubby :growlmad:

Shit an actual brick  at least dick Turpin wore a mask.

I am using £4 - £5 a day on mine at the moment

We have gas heating too, but this time of year we have a million Christmas lights plugged in, not to mention dh has been off work for past 5 weeks so he is home all day using more then normal

wow im on meter and 40 lastz us a month and im a sahm and cook electric. ds has been ill and weve been in alot but only cost us extra £5

That is alot, we use that a week but are electric throughtout. This week its been more though as LO decieded to turn up the heaters and I didn't realise till yesterday when I checked how much we had left, lucky I did as we were nearly out. :dohh:

I was using £5 a day a few days ago and realised it was my timers on the plugs, they use credit even when not being used.

Well this is sorta off topic. I'm from the US and we just get a bill at the end of the month after we use our electric. do you have to prepay for electricity there. How does that work. Just a little curious.

We have three ways of doing it here. You pay after usage so quarterly, you can pay monthly in order to avoid the big bills or you can have a meter where you a card/key and take that to the shop you then pay however much you require and they put in a little machine, you go home with it and put it in your meter. It is a little more expensive that way but many people find it easier to manage putting a bit on each week than monthly/quarterly bills.

I can understand not wanting the high bills. This summer mine was $300 and some change for a couple of months due to high ac cost. Well over 100 degrees for most of the summer. Right now it is $95 so not too bad but I have gas heat so it will stay low and my gas will then go up to $120 or so. Thanks for explaning.

I bet it's your hubby having the fire on. If we have our electric fire on it kills our electric so we don't bother with it
